The choir have performed at many festivals and venues including Wales Millenium Centre, Dolman Theatre, St David’s Hall, Cardiff Castle, Caldicot Castle and Brecon Jazz Festival and at the Roald Dahl celebration ‘The City of the Unexpected’ in Cardiff.
In September last year their single ‘Fix You’ (Coldplay) was released with proceeds going to St David’s Hospice – a charity very close to the heart of the choir. To find out more, head to their page here. SOUL’D
The EVERYVOICE COMMUNITY CHOIRS are a combination of 8 smaller choirs, all based at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham. Its members range from 4 to 90 years, not forgetting their wonderful choir dog Gino who never misses a concert!
A year on and the choir has gone from strength to strength, with so many members it has now split into two Happy Harmonies groups. At the helm is Caroline Mander, who has 20 years of experience in musical theatre.
As enthusiastic and inspiring as Gareth Malone himself, she has aspirations of creating even more groups in Cheltenham and Gloucester, for children, the elderly and anyone in between.
“Most people who come to the groups have never sung in public before, but love singing in their bedrooms or in the shower. They start off feeling a bit shy and nervous, but once they start to sing they find it really exhilarating. It gives them more confidence. Seeing them get the feeling that I’ve always got from performing is the biggest thrill for me. I also love the spine-tingling moment when everyone is singing in harmony and it sounds amazing.”
The choir sings everything from traditional numbers from musical theatre to Coldplay and Elbow. Check them out on Facebook here. EVERYVOICE
Also performing are JUST SING! are a new choir for teenagers formed in 2017 in the St. Julians area. Young but experienced singers showcase a wide range of pop and theatre music with vibrant energy and beautiful harmonies.
