Orbis Education and Care Donates Graduation Plaques to the NICU at The Grange Hospital

Orbis Education and Care has teamed up with The Grange Hospital in Cwmbran, to create new graduation signs for its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), following an appeal shared on Facebook by a nurse at the hospital.

Learners from Academy Living, a unique and progressive initiative run by Orbis offering hands-on learning and work skills, spent time designing and making two plaques for the unit. Using their woodworking skills, the learners handcrafted the plaques, which will be used as photographic backdrops for parents and their babies as they leave the Unit following treatment.

The plaques were delivered to the hospital by one of the learners and staff from Academy Living Dean Davies and Jeremy Wyatt. They spent time with staff at the unit, and gifted biscuits and chocolates to the team as a gesture of thanks for their dedication and hard work.

Tracy O’Brien, Head of Academy Living at Orbis Education and Care told us…..

“It was really special for our learners to create something that celebrates such an important milestone for families. Knowing that the plaques will mark a positive moment after a challenging journey made the experience incredibly meaningful for everyone involved.”

We’d like to thank all the incredible staff at the NICU at The Grange Hospital for allowing us to come and deliver the plaques as well as spend time with them. Seeing the amazing work they do for babies and families made the experience even more special.”
