King Charles Iii In Wales

King Charles III is no stranger to Wales, a place he visited and stayed many times during his time as Prince of Wales. Things now are very different, we have a new Prince and Princess of Wales and our new King is getting through the most challenging of weeks anyone has had to face.

In addition to his official and ceremonial duties in the United Kingdom and overseas as The Prince of Wales, His Majesty has taken a keen and active interest in all areas of public life for decades. The King has been instrumental in establishing more than 20 charities over 40 years, including The Prince’s TrustThe Prince’s Foundation and The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF).

His Majesty has worked closely with many organisations, publicly supporting a wide variety of causes relating to the environment, rural communities, the built environment, the arts, healthcare and education.

We have had the pleasure of meeting His Majesty on a few occasions during his work with the Prince’s Trust. It is a charity, and he is fiercely passionate about and takes an active interest in all areas of the cause.

King Charles III to visit Wales on Friday

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest ever reigning monarch, died aged 96 on Thursday, passing the throne to the heir.

The King and Camilla, Queen Consort have already paid a visit to Scotland on their accession tour, before heading to Northern Ireland.

They are now back in London, where they witnessed the arrival of Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin.

The King has had a packed schedule prior to The Queen’s funeral which will be held next Monday 19th.

A bank holiday across the UK has been approved by the new king on the day of the funeral, with the Welsh government confirming schools will not be expected to open.

During His Majesty’s visit to Wales on Friday he will attend a service of prayer and meet the First Minister Mark Drakeford during his time in Cardiff.

The National Service of Remembrance will be broadcast live on the BBC.

After the service has taken place, the King and the Queen Consort will go on a short walkabout on Llandaff Green to meet with school children and members of the community.

MOTION OF CONDOLENCE

The Royal couple will visit the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.

They’ll be greeted by the First Minister Mark Drakeford and Presiding Officer Elin Jones before moving into the Senedd debating chamber where the First Minister will stand to propose the Motion of Condolence.

King Charles III will stand to reply. Both the King and The Queen Consort will also receive a Motion of Condolence.
