South Wales Markets: Your Complete Guide to Farmers’, Indoor and Christmas Markets

There is nothing quite like a market day. Fresh bread still warm from the oven, a chat with the farmer who reared your bacon, a vintage find you never knew you needed, and a cuppa and a Welsh cake to keep you going. South Wales is full of them, from Victorian indoor halls to riverside farmers’ markets and pop-up street food nights.

This is the South Wales Life guide to markets across the region, fully refreshed for November 2026. We have checked opening days, hours and addresses against current sources, retired markets that have changed beyond recognition, and added some newer arrivals. You will also find a seasonal section on this year’s Christmas markets.

A quick note before you set off: market days, times and venues can change at short notice (weather, school holidays, bank holidays and trader availability all play a part). Where we could, we have linked to each market’s own website or social page, so please check there before you travel.

Bookmark this page and come back often. We update it as we hear about changes.

Right in the heart of the city, Cardiff Market is a Victorian showpiece that has been trading since 1891 under one great glass roof. Expect fresh fruit and veg, fishmongers, butchers, cheese, Welsh cakes, vinyl, books, collectables and café counters where you can refuel. It is a fantastic place to browse, chat and pick up a bargain.

Riverside Farmers’ Market

The original Cardiff farmers’ market, launched in 1998 and now one of the best known in the UK. It sits on the bank of the River Taff opposite the Principality Stadium and is a real showcase for Welsh producers. Think organic meat, eggs, sourdough, pastries, olives, hot street food and proper coffee.

Riverside Market

Roath Farmers’ Market

Opened in 2008, Roath has become a real foodie hotspot. It pops up in the car park of Mackintosh Sports Club and mixes regular Riverside traders with its own newcomers, so you will often meet new food businesses here first.

  • Where: Mackintosh Sports Club, Keppoch Street, Cardiff CF24 3JW (between City Road and Albany Road)
  • More info: Roath Market

Rhiwbina Farmers’ Market

A friendly neighbourhood market that began as a trial in 2010 and never left. Many traders have been there from the start, and you can pop into the pub for lunch afterwards.

  • When: Fridays, 10am to 1pm
  • Where: Rear car park of Ye Olde Butchers Arms, Heol y Felin, Rhiwbina CF14 6NB

Formerly known to many of us as the Cardiff Flea Market, this treasure trove has operated since 2014 and describes itself as one of the largest antique and collectables sites in Wales. There are three halls with more than 70 stalls selling china, jewellery, furniture, vinyl, vintage and homewares. Give yourself a few hours to explore.

  • Where: Unit 2, Clydesmuir Road Industrial Estate, Tremorfa, Cardiff CF24 2QS
  • Good to know: Free parking, step-free throughout and a heated tea room. The warehouse itself is unheated, so wrap up in winter. Dogs welcome.

Jacob’s Antiques Market

Under the railway bridge at the bottom of St Mary Street, Jacob’s is spread over several floors of vintage clothing, leather jackets, antique furniture, jewellery, silver and gloriously eccentric curios. It is a wonderful place to while away an afternoon.

Cowbridge and the Vale of Glamorgan

Cowbridge Farmers’ Market

Formerly the Vale of Glamorgan Farmers’ Market, this volunteer-run market has been going for over 25 years. Everything on sale has been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder, so you can ask them anything. Recent traders include bakers, pork and game producers, mushroom growers, coffee roasters and street food stalls.

  • When: Every Saturday, 9am to 1pm
  • Where: Arthur John Car Park, North Road, Cowbridge CF71 7DF (free parking for the first two hours in the nearby car park)
  • More info: Cowbridge Farmers’ Market
