New amenities include complimentary access to ecofriendly reusable breast pads, electric bottle warmers, supportive feeding cushions and signage with free access to virtual midwife support for pregnancy and postpartum advice.

The collaboration with Fraupow is part of a wider initiative from St David’s owner, Landsec, to create the ultimate day out for families visiting their shopping centres. Following guest feedback, this will see Landsec enhance the experience for families with upgraded spaces to take a break,  family-friendly dining and memorable events for all ages to enjoy.

Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s told us…..

“We’re consistently looking at new ways to surprise our guests, attract new visitors and go above and beyond what people expect from a day out at a shopping centre.

Families make up such a big part of our visitors, and we know from our guest research that they need practical and comfortable spaces to support their day out. This new collaboration with Fraupow will ensure our spaces are helpful, welcoming and enjoyable for the whole family to have a great experience, every time they visit.”

Sunita Boyes, Founder and Managing Director of Fraupow added…..

“Fraupow is all about supporting parents and caregivers with confidently and comfortably feeding their children. We offer a number of virtual support services, and we wanted to turn this into something tangible to help parents in the real world.

We are delighted to have joined forces with St David’s to enhance the guest experience and hope that families visiting here will enjoy one of the best retail baby feeding areas in the region.”

Feeding your baby is an important aspect of their growth and development. Our specialist has put together 5 key points to consider when it comes to baby feeding:

  1. Breastfeeding: Breast milk is considered the best source of nutrition for newborns. It provides them with essential nutrients and antibodies to boost their immune system. It is recommended to exclusively breastfeed your baby for the first 6 months, and continue breastfeeding alongside complementary foods for up to 2 years or more.
  2. Formula Feeding: If breastfeeding is not an option, or you choose to supplement with formula, it’s essential to choose a formula that meets your baby’s nutritional needs. Consult with a specialist to ensure you are using the right formula and follow the instructions on preparation and feeding.
  3. Introducing Solid Foods: When your baby reaches around 6 months of age, it’s time to introduce solid foods alongside breastfeeding or formula feeding. Start with single-ingredient purees such as mashed fruits or vegetables, and gradually introduce a variety of foods to ensure a balanced diet. Avoid introducing allergenic foods like peanuts and shellfish until your baby is ready and consult with your Health Worker/Paediatrician.
  4. Feeding Schedule: In the beginning, your baby’s feeding schedule may be irregular, with frequent feedings throughout the day and night. As they grow, their feeding schedule will become more predictable, with longer gaps between meals. Pay attention to your baby’s hunger cues, like rooting, sucking motions, or increased alertness, to determine when they are ready for a feeding.
  5. Responsive Feeding: It’s important to practice responsive feeding, which involves paying attention to your baby’s cues for hunger and fullness. Allow your baby to eat until they are satisfied and avoid forcing them to finish a bottle or plate. Encourage self-feeding as they grow and develop their motor skills.

Remember, every baby is unique, and their feeding needs may vary. Consult with your Health Worker/Paediatrician for personalised advice and guidance on your baby’s feeding journey.
