We’ve brought you a few of these film festivals over the last few months and they’ve always been incredibly popular with our readers, so here we go with the latest. The BANFF MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL is an international film competition and annual presentation of short films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports, and the environment.
It’s been going for along time now having been launched in 1976 as The Banff Festival of Mountain Films by The Banff Centre and is held every fall in Banff, Alberta. Held concurrently is the Banff Mountain Book Festival, which brings the spirit of mountain literature to Banff, and features guest speakers, readings, seminars, and an international book competition.
Immediately after the festival in November, a selection of the best films entered in the festival goes on tour. Each tour location sees a program that reflects the interests of their community, that’ll be us then. Each community creates a unique celebration of local adventure and adventurers. The World Tour itself visits over 300 cities annually in 20 countries, reaching almost a quarter of a million audience members.
The Film Festival Tour will include two film programmes featuring the latest and best films from the world’s most prestigious mountain film festival. The first films have just been announced below remaining films will be revealed shortly!

The UK and Ireland Banff Tour is very much about fantastic people and places! With more venues and shows this year they’re looking for people local to each of the screenings to join the Banff Mountain Film Festival Trail Team to help the spread the word. So here’s the deal.
Banff Mountain Film Festival Trail Team members for each screening.
To spread the Banff word, share promotional material (posters, flyers, digital media) in local shops, climbing gyms, outdoor groups etc. as well as on a variety of social media platforms. They’ll also need you to lend a bit of a hand on the night (don’t worry you will definitely get to watch the films – that’s the best bit!).
Outgoing, approachable, friendly, outdoors/adventure lovers. You might work at a climbing gym, be a member of an outdoor club or just get outside as often as you can (oh – and be over 18 years old!).
You’ll get an exclusive 2020 Banff Mountain Film Festival Trail Team T-shirt, plus a ticket for you to your local screening!
If you’re interested in applying to join the team they’d love to hear from you – just click HERE and tell them a little bit about yourself and why you’d like to be involved with the Banff Mountain Film Festival!
