Singer/songwriter, author and presenter CERYS MATTHEWS has had a relationship with Newport based BALLET CYMRU for a few years now, in fact she’s also a patron of this fine company of dedicated and hard working people.

We are delighted they are teaming up on stage once again for MADE IN WALES, which gets to The Riverfront in Newport next month.

This is a real celebration, and I think it’s fair to say, a love letter to Dylan Thomas.

Created by Ballet Cymru Artistic Directors Darius James and Amy Doughty the piece features stunning live readings, and some beautiful music from Cerys, set to some of Dylans’ best-known poems.

The combination of the dance from Ballet Cymru and the voice and passion of performer Cerys Matthews makes for one magical evening.

We caught up with Cerys recently to find out more about her love for the work of Dylan Thomas, and this project in particular. We also dropped in to Ballet Cymru in Newport to see the dancers rehearsing and meet artistic Director Darius James.
