It was to be a day of festive fun and celebrations in Pontypridd but sadly the bad weather has forced the organisers to cancel the Christmas lights switch on this evening and the events they had planned this afternoon.

Pontypridd Town Council told us…….

‘After an early meeting and consultation with forecasters we have unfortunately had to cancel the Christmas Lights Switch On Event. We are extremely disappointed that the weather wasn’t on our side this year with a yellow weather warning in place for this afternoon.

We will have a host of Christmas events and activities coming up throughout December. We hope to see lots of you at Santa’s Grotto at the Museum on 3rd, 10th and 17th December and at the Mayor’s Charity Concert on 14th Dec.’

We know this is a huge disappointment to residents and the organisers, Pontypridd Town Council in partnership with Your Pontypridd Business Improvement District (BID) and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. They have put so much hard work into planning todays events.

But fear not, Santa is still coming to town and there are more events planned throughout December.

Pontypridd Museum will be home to Santa’s Grotto and a Christmas market every Saturday in December in the run-up to Christmas, with the Grotto open on the 3rd, 10th and 17th December from 10am – 4pm. Entry to the grotto is free, with donations to the Mayor’s charity welcomed.

Santa’s Grotto

On Wednesday 14th December, the popular Mayor’s Charity Christmas Concert will take place in Pontypridd Museum between 7pm – 9pm. Among those performing are Côr Meibion Pontypridd and Bethan Parker. Tickets are £5 and are available at Pontypridd Museum.
