The festive celebrations are going to be extra special this year in Pontypridd after the terrible weather put pay to the 2022 events. This month you can join in the festive fun in Pontypridd town centre with a host of free events and activities organised by Pontypridd Town Council.

The CHRISTMAS CRACKER comes to town today – Friday 24th November from 4 to 7pm. This event is always a busy and popular one.

Organised by Pontypridd Town Council in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, the event will feature children’s fairground rides, market stalls, Christmas choirs and live music with radio station GTFM.

Local school children along with Pontypridd Community Choir will lead a Lantern Parade at 5pm through the town centre before the winners of Pontypridd Town Council’s schools Christmas card competition will switch on the Christmas lights at the main stage on Taff Street at 6pm.

Further events are planned by Pontypridd Town Council throughout the festive season.

Pontypridd Museum will be home to Santa’s Grotto and a Christmas market every Saturday in December in the run-up to Christmas, with the Grotto open on the 2nd, 9th and 16th December from 11am – 3pm. Entry to the grotto is free, with donations to the Mayor’s charity welcomed.

Pontypridd Town Council Chief Executive and Town Clerk, Tony Graham told us…..

“This year’s Christmas Cracker event promises to be a great start to the festive season. In challenging times such as these we’re glad to be able to bring some festive cheer to Pontypridd with a free event such as this, where our community can come together to celebrate the magic of Christmas.

It’s going to be a fantastic event and a great start to the Christmas celebrations Pontypridd Town Council has planned throughout December.”

Santa is also coming to town and making Pontypridd Museum the perfect home for his Grotto on Saturday 2nd, 9th and 16th, with the Grotto open from 11am – 3pm. Entry to the grotto is free, with donations to the Mayor’s charity welcome.
