Earths To Come – A Virtual Journey Into the Depths of a Love Poem

You still have time to get along to Wales Millennium Centre to enjoy their latest VR experience EARTHS TO COME, playing till 11th January.

Earths to Come invites audiences on a virtual journey through the intimate expanses of an 8-line Emily Dickinson poem. Painterly, hand-drawn animations intertwine with original vocal music, while spatialised sound creates a sense of immediate presence, revealing vastness and introspection in simplicity.

The immersive VR theatre installation premiered at the 2024 Venice Biennale Cinema Immersive, offering viewers a shared, communal experience. The project is a bold collaboration between expanded cinema director Rose Bond, Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, acclaimed composer Inti Figgis-Vizueta, spatial sound designer Massimiliano “Max” Borghesi, composite artist Zak Margolis, sound engineer Randall Squires, and creative producer Melanie Coombs—each pushing the boundaries of their craft.
