
Walk for Hope in Aid of Velindre Cancer Centre
Please join us for this lovely family event at Margam Country Park. Inclusive of all ages and abilities have been considered when organising this event. You can appreciate and take in the beautiful surroundings of Margam Country Park as you take part in this walk. Each distance will start at the Castle and finish at the Castle. The routes will be suitable for wheelchair users and routes for shorter walks, but you can walk and finish at your own pace and time there are no restrictions or rules. All we ask is that you stick to the mapped out route.
***Please arrive at the Castle for registration. The park will open to participants at 10am with a view to start the walk at ; 11am-11.15 am.
We will have the following routes available to participate in;
1k , 5k & 10k; You can decide what distance you would like to walk on the day, you will also receive a medal when you finish your walk.
We ask that you raise a minimum amount of £50.00- sponsor forms will be e mailed out on confirmation of your booking.
Children are free to enter & £5.00 for a t shirt.
Adults entry fee will be £10.00 including a t shirt.
The routes will be on a loop system with guides and markers in place to ensure you are cheered on and safe during the walk. You will be sent a map of the routes and loops clearly marked out.
You be allocated a wrist band on entry to the park, please bring with you your registration confirmation. We ask that you do not arrive before this time as you will only receive your wrist band on entry to the park and not at the registration tent. This will also allow you to access the free parking for participants.
You will be provided with a t shirt at the Velindre registration tent by the Castle; this will be the size that you order so please ensure you order the correct size. You will also be provided with a snack bag and bottle of water.
You will be able to purchase a child’s t shirt on booking, they will be £5.00 each.
Car parking will be free for those participating, those whom bring their own car and come as a spectator will need to pay for their parking.
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead at all times during the walk; there are wild deer in the park hence dog owners to take responsibility for their fur babies. Dog mess to also be picked up and disposed of please.
There will be a first aid station on site, but we do ask that you ensure that are medically fit enough to participate in this event; we can not be responsible for any medical conditions that may restrict your fitness to walk.
There is a café on site near the castle along with public amenities if you would like refreshments whilst you are at Margam Park. You are very welcome to stay in the park after the event with no restrictions as to when you need to leave.
You are very welcome to bring along some support, this would be greatly appreciated.
All monies raised will go directly to Velindre CC to continue with the support of patients and families.
