It seems that during lockdown we have all become more ‘money-savvy’, regularly checking our accounts, looking at how and what we are spending our hard earned finances on. New research suggests that consumers are determined to take greater control of their personal finances in 2021 following last yearâs financial uncertainty. It now appears the banks are helping us with that process.
Santander for example, have a new development, designed with the customer in mind. It allows you to get tailored âinsightsâ into how you spend.

My Money Manager looks at what you do in your accounts, and sends you the information to help you be smarter about your spend.
We’ve been finding out more from Andy Warren, Head of Digital Transformation at Santander UK, and Alice Beer, Consumer Champion & TV Presenter.
Alice is ITV This Morning’s Consumer Editor, regularly appearing on the programme. Her reports on safety in household white goods led to the recalling of products and discussion in parliament.

Alice first made her name on the BBC consumer show Watchdog, co-presenting alongside Anne Robinson, where she took undercover reporting jobs and exposed some of the biggest industries in the country for the way they were treating consumers. Alice went on to front many major BBC Series mostly with a strong consumer angle: Healthcheck, Face Value, Holiday and a financial quiz: Show Me The Money.  She has also hosted Channel 5âs Hot Property programme and LBCâs Breakfast Radio Show.

And if you’re looking for something to read during these long days of lockdown, Alice has written a book âA Contented House With Twinsâ?, and we can highly recommend it.
We’ve managed to find a really good deal on it (Alive would be proud). Just click on the cover below.
