TITANIC THE MUSICAL is currently delighting audiences at the New Theatre in Cardiff, rather than tell you everything about this super piece of musical theatre, let me direct you straight away to our review of the show HERE. You can also see our original feature HERE.

As we say in our review, this is a real old-school musical in the best possible way. It launched on Broadway back in 1997 and after a bit of a rocky start, when it almost sunk without trace, it eventually went on to receive much critical acclaim and multiple Tony Awards. It didn’t make the long voyage over to the UK until 2013, and look at this, we’ve had to wait another ten years before it finally sailed into South Wales.

Playing the part of the J. Bruce Ismay, the Managing Director of the White Star Line, which built and owned Titanic, and the man named the ‘coward of the ship‘ is MARTIN ALLANSON.

Martin’s career has taken him through a UK tour of The Mousetrap and Wuthering Heights. He’s also appeared in Coco (Sadler’s Wells); 55 Days, Fabrika Hill (Hampstead Theatre); Riot (National Theatre Studio); How The Vote Was Won (Orange Tree Theatre); Bouncers (Guildford Fringe); Lee Harvey Oswald (Finborough Theatre); Tomorrow/Seppuku (Arcola Theatre); Machine Gunners (Polka Theatre); In An Instant, Christmas (Theatre 503); His Face, Her Face (Bath Theatre).

We caught up with Martin at the end of the Wednesday afternoon matinee to find out more about the show and the character he plays in this epic production.
