It’s seems our racecourses are the go to place if you’re looking for an action packed day or evening out. With everything from a family fun day, a food and drink festival to plenty of live music, we have events at one of our local racecourses to celebrate each of them. So let’s take a look at what’s going on and a few dates for your diary.
We also have a feature on all three spring events at these courses, you can read it here. SPRING
Get a group of friends together for their GRAND NATIONAL PARTY RACE DAY which is always one of their most popular meetings of the year. In fact, grab a load of your mates and there’s even a 15% discount for group booking of 10 or more!
This year they have the fantastic FROM THE JAM playing live after racing. they will be playing all the Jam’s biggest iconic hits including Going Underground, Town Called Malice, That’s Entertainment, Down In the Tube Station At Midnight and many more.
The words legend and icon are sometimes used too frequently these days but not when being used to describe Bruce Foxton. Since the punk explosion during the summer of 1976 when, as a part of The Jam, Bruce Foxton’s thumping bass lines exploded onto London’s live music scene. The next year the anthemic “IN THE CITY” album and single were released, and the rest, as they say, is music history. Bruce was actually recently voted by readers of NME as the 7th Most Influential Bass Player.
Russell Hastings has been working with Bruce Foxton since 2007 when Russell and Rick Buckler were touring with The Gift which was formed a year earlier. Russell has been the only frontman to work with both Rick Buckler and Bruce Foxton since Paul Weller split The Jam in 1982 and has been earning respect from fans across the world as a frontman and with his guitar skills. As a genuine Jam fan, his passion and understanding of The Jam’s history is second to none and has toured the world playing to packed houses of Jam fans for years.
Not only will Bruce be jumping, as he always has, but you’ll see the biggest jump race in the world on the big screen in Wales! There are seven live races from Chepstow plus the Randox Health Grand National live from Aintree on the big screen.

We really love this event as it’s supporting such a great cause. The LITTLE PRINCESS TRUST HAIR & HOPE charity race day Little Princess Trust Hair & Hope Charity will welcome 80s music icons Chesney Hawkes and Nathan Moore to Hereford for a truly special day.
The Rusty Bridge Restaurant will offer a three course luncheon raising money for Little Princess Trust before guests then enjoy live entertainment into the evening as Chesney Hawkes, Nathan Moore and Herefordshire’s own The Hey Yahs Lite take to the stage for a musical extravaganza, the like of which Hereford has never seen before.
We were going to write lots of stuff about Chesney and how we all know his biggest hit. Maybe you know that he is as busy now as he’s always been, but we don’t want to do that when the man himself can tell you it all so much better. And as you watch the video you’ll see how important racing was at the start of his career – kind of……..
And of course we need to hear that iconic song too…….
Nathan Moore was lead singer from another of those great 80s band who took the charts by storm. He’s still out playing music and performing live. Here’s a little reminder of his biggest hit with Brother Beyond.
Racing stars Richard Johnson and Peter Scudamore will be regaling racing tales to guests before racing too so it really is a fun filled, charity fuelled day in Rusty Bridge not to be missed. Spaces are limited, and selling fast so book now to secure your place at Hereford’s hottest gig of the year!
Best of all you’ll be supporting the charity, which provides 2,000 wigs per year to children and young adults with hair loss from illness, and the day will also include a charity hair cut by Champion Jockey Richard Johnson for everyone that wishes to grow their hair to 12” for the charity.
