Nick Jr And Bricklive Bring Us An Easter Treat

Keeping the kids entertained at anytime is difficult, but at Easter even more so – guess it’s the glut of chocolate that makes them hyper. So thank goodness NICK JR, BRICKLIVE and ST DAVID’S have stepped in to bring us something extra special.

A toy brick model trail featuring much-loved children’s characters will be at the centre this Easter.

The giant PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Abby Hatcher and Shimmer & Shine characters will be part of a free trail for families to explore throughout the city shopping destination during the school holidays.

The 15 models of the Nick Jr. favourites, including Chase, Skye and Abby Hatcher are made up of more than half a million toy bricks, weighing over 2,300 kg and taking nearly 2,000 hours to construct.

The exhibition, presented and built by BRICKLIVE and brought to Cardiff by FOR Cardiff, includes interactive fun such as a sit-on Shimmer and Shine Magic Carpet and a walk-in selfie zone with Blaze from Blaze and the Monster Machines. Following a trail map, participants who find all the characters will be able to claim a prize as their reward.

James Waugh, centre director of St David’s Cardiff told us……

“The Nick Jr. trail brings together a line-up of 15 much-loved children’s characters along with toy bricks, a winning combination which we can’t wait to see here at St David’s. It will be a fun and free experience for the Easter holidays and we’re looking forward to seeing our younger visitors’ reactions to these larger-than-life characters.”

So which characters do we get to see on this tour…….

  • Abby Hatcher: Abby Hatcher, Bozzly, Abby Hatcher interactive head-in-hole exhibit
  • Blaze and the Monster Machines: AJ, Blaze stand-in selfie zone
  • PAW Patrol: Marshall, Rubble, Chase, Rocky, Zuma, Skye, Ryder
  • Shimmer & Shine: Shimmer, Shine, interactive sit-on magic carpet

Adrian Field, Executive Director of FOR Cardiff added……

“We’re excited to be hosting the first Nick Jr. toy brick model trail in Wales here in Cardiff this Easter. Children will get the chance to see their favourite characters like they’ve never seen them before and have an enjoyable day out.

“Our remit is to enhance Cardiff’s position as a destination city. We are expecting to welcome more families into the city for this free event and hope they make the most of Cardiff’s fantastic hospitality and retail opportunities while they’re here.”

And if you’re curious how it’s all made and how many bricks are used, take a look at the video below…..

Christina Anthony is Bricklive Director, she told us……

“Our brick-built Nick Jr tour is a must for a family day out. Watching the kids explore and discover their favourite tv characters along the trail provides an incredible experience and memories that will last forever.”

The free trail will be held throughout St David’s Cardiff from 11th to 24th April and maps can be collected from the guest services desk, located on the upper level of the Grand Arcade, during centre opening hours.
