
Okay Mums and Dads it’s that time of year again (almost), Pantomime season is getting closer us and the very best way to enjoy it is to see your talented youngsters on stage in the show.
The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre, Newport have just announced that auditions to find the young company for pantomime ROBIN HOOD will take place at The Riverfront on Sunday 11th September between 10am and 3pm with registration from 9.30am. All talented youngsters welcome! Oh yes they are………
Robin Hood will star a very talented cast featuring some familiar faces: Newport favourite RICHARD ELLIS and GERAINT RHYS EDWARDS. With a cast like that you just know the panto is the real deal, professional, and of course family-friendly.
The show will be full of magic, glitz and laughs and will run for a month from Tuesday 29th November through to Saturday 7th January next year. It will also feature three teams of children in fun singing and dancing routines, who will be selected through these auditions.

The Riverfront are looking for 24 – 30 children and young people who will be selected, plus some reserve choices, to form three troupes of 8 – 10 children, who will perform on alternate days of the pantomime’s run. They is keen to see children’s ‘personality’ as well as their singing, dancing and acting skills. It is important that everyone who auditions are skilled across all of those three areas..
The audition will include learning a short dance routine, singing as a group (and possibly individually). They may also ask them to recite a very short poem or joke of their choice. All talented youngsters are welcome, whether they go to drama school, study drama or dance in school or are a novice.
The kids need to be as comfortable as possible on the day so appropriate comfy clothes and footwear suitable for moving and dancing in. Clothing should be non-branded and not shiny material, as numbers won’t stick to it. You don’t need to prepare anything but might want to bring water and snacks. The Café at The Riverfront will also be open on the day.
The auditions are open to children and young people who live in the boroughs of Newport, Cardiff and Torfaen only. The minimum age is 9 years on the first day of rehearsal (14th November 2022) and the maximum age is 15 years and 11 months on the last day of the run (7th January 2023).
A list of performances and rehearsal commitments will be available on the day. It is essential that selected children must be able to commit to the full period of the pantomime, which will include a small number of term time dates during the rehearsal period.
