Mickey Mouse is packing for a journey with plenty of familiar faces. Disney On Ice presents Road Trip Adventures arrives at Utilita Arena Cardiff from 24th to 28th February 2027, taking us from one Disney world to another without leaving our seats.
The idea is simple and full of possibility: Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy are heading off on a road trip, and everyone is invited along. Each stop brings a different story to life on the ice. One moment the journey leads to Moana’s island of Motunui; the next, it heads for the Pride Lands with Simba. There’s a visit to Aladdin’s world, too, before Woody and Forky bring the fun to a larger-than-life carnival.
It’s a format that makes room for all sorts of Disney favourites. Alongside those stories, the Cardiff line-up includes characters from Frozen, Mary Poppins Returns, Incredibles 2 and the Disney Princess films. For children, there’s the thrill of recognising a character the instant they appear. For parents and grandparents, there’s a fair chance of finding a favourite of their own.
What makes Disney On Ice such an appealing family outing is the way a familiar story changes when it moves onto the rink. The characters are close enough to feel real, but the ice gives their adventures a scale that a screen cannot quite capture. A trip through the Pride Lands or a parade with Aladdin becomes something to watch unfold together, with the audience sharing every entrance and surprise.

Road Trip Adventures should be especially fun for families whose Disney loyalties are divided. Perhaps one child is devoted to Moana, another wants to see Woody, and somebody else is waiting for a princess. The changing destinations mean there’s always another stop ahead. You don’t need to know every film to enjoy the journey, although knowing the songs and characters will no doubt add to the excitement.
The Cardiff run stretches across five days, with evening performances on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th February. Friday 26th February has afternoon and evening shows, while both Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February offer morning, afternoon and evening performances. That gives families a useful choice of times, whether they’re planning a special night out or a weekend treat.
For many children, an arena show can be a big occasion in itself: choosing what to wear, travelling into Cardiff and finding their seats as the excitement builds. There’s something lovely about making a day of it. Years later, they may forget precisely which character appeared first, but remember the moment the lights went down and the adventure began.
