THE RAT PACK – SWINGIN’ AT THE SANDS!

What made the Rat Pack so timelessly loveable to all? Was it the wonderful delivery of The Great American Songbook? Was it the style and panache with which the Rats performed? Was it the joy and comedy that came from being onstage with their best friends? Well now you can find out for yourself!  Truly emulating the ‘Kings of Cool’, this show brings flair and class that only Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr could.

We absolutely love everything about the ‘pack’ but here’s a few things which may surprise you….

FIVE FACTS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THE RAT PACK

  • Originally, the Rat Pack was a group of friends centred around the group’s leader, Humphrey Bogart. The original members included Errol Flynn, Nat King Cole, Mickey Rooney, Jerry Lewis and Cesar Romero.
  • Frank Sinatra once ordered 300 Bloody Marys from room service for a Rat Pack party.
  • The first movie all five Rat Pack members appeared in together was “Ocean’s Eleven.” It was released in 1960. Frank Sinatra played Danny Ocean.
  • The Rat Pack recorded five live albums together, including “The Rat Pack Live at the Sands” in 1960.
  • The Rat Pack had several “associate” members, called “Rat Pack Mascots,” including Marilyn Monroe, Angie Dickinson, Shirley MacLaine, Lauren Bacall, Juliet Prowse and Judy Garland.

Featuring stars of the West End show ‘The Rat Pack, Live From Las Vegas’, this stylish, fully-choreographed show has something for everyone. Including all your favourites such as ‘Fly Me To The Moon’, ‘Mr Bojangles’ and ‘That’s Amore’, not to mention the songs you simply cannot help singing along to, such as ‘New York, New York’ and ‘My Way’.

GLENN MACNAMARA is Dean Martin and is now considered by many as Britain’s finest swing singers. Scotsman Glenn brings his debonair charm, silky voice and brilliant band. Glenn has performed in front of royalty at Hampton Court Palace whilst entertaining those lucky to catch his show at The Dorchester & Savoy Hotels.

Francis Albert Sinatra is brought to the stage by TOM RUSSEL FOX (another fine Scot). He trained in dance and choreography at The London Contemporary Dance School. Tom started his career in dance companies including London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Rambert Dance Company, The Lindsay Kemp Company and Mathew Bourne’s Adventures in Motion Pictures with whom he went to Broadway as well as The West End.

Completing the ‘pack’ is JIM WHITLEY as Sammy Davis Jr. A choirboy and flutist from an early age Jim’s love of music deviated somewhat when he applied his skills to football and went on to play for Manchester City and Northern Ireland. Jim broke into the theatre world with his portrayal of Nat King Cole in the production of Christmas Crooners and Strictly Swing. He joined the Rat Pack tour as Sammy Davis Jnr where he performed alongside a full West End cast and The Barry Robinson Big Band.

Producer Mark Halliday, who played Dean Martin in London’s West End, and toured with the show across the UK, Europe and America promises a ‘faithful, authentic and joyous recreation of the very best of this musical moment in time’. The longest running production in the Veritas Entertainment stable of award-winning shows, now gracing the Nation’s best theatres.
