Anyone who has walked through Cardiff city centre, just opposite the Central Library Hub on The Hayes won’t have missed this huge covering next to The Ivy. If like us, you’ve seen it and wondered ‘when‘ we can tell you the opening is almost here.

The Ivy Asia is coming this summer

THE IVY ASIA is set to open the doors to its first Asian-inspired concept in Wales this summer. The location is perfect, especially if you’re looking to eat before a bit of shopping, theatre, cinema or gig, as it’s within walking distance of some of our biggest and best venues.

The restaurant will cater for 166 for both indoor dining and across its beautiful terrace, and will be open seven days a week, offering everything from lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, late-night cocktails, and weekend brunch.

Serving theatrical drinks and cocktails alongside a delicious menu of tantalising dishes and DJ performances, this vibrant and playful destination will entertain, inspire, and excite guests from the moment they step inside.

It will all feel familiar when you arrive with the now infamous, luminous green onyx flooring, whilst the restaurant will feature two large cherry blossom trees and bespoke Paul Clifford artwork. Fitted beautifully with striking artwork, luxurious Asian fabrics, colourful wallpapers, and antiques, the space is designed to be elegant yet vibrant.

No pictures of The Ivy Asia Cardiff as yet but here’s a look at the Brighton restaurant to give you an idea of what is heading our way. Think you’ll agree, it’s pretty spectacular.

Alongside the main restaurant and bar, you can also experience mezzanine level seating and a sushi bar, where dishes and delights will be prepared before your very eyes.

The Ivy Asia, Cardiff’s kitchen will be overseen by Executive Chef SIMON GREGORY, whilst dishes will take inspiration from cuisines spanning the continent of Asia. The menu will incorporate much-loved favourites from sister restaurants The Ivy Asia, Chelsea and The Ivy Asia, Brighton, with highlights including an extensive sushi and sashimi selection, including wagyu beef tataki, salmon sashimi, spiced yuzu and avocado salsa, and yellowtail three ways. Vegetarian and plant-based options will include avocado crispy tofu, with a lime and ginger dressing, and roasted aubergine miso and masago arare.

Accompanying the menu will be a delicious selection of cocktails, sakes, wines, Champagnes and Jing speciality Asian teas. Cocktails will transport guests with a series of exciting flavours and colourful garnishes. What’s more, diners will be able to enjoy live DJs late into the night with our Ivy Asia lates programme from 10pm.

Simon told us……..

“We are incredibly excited to be bringing The Ivy Asia to Cardiff, the first in Wales. Cardiff is known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich culture, making it the perfect place for this new Asian inspired concept. The team we have in place is fantastic and the restaurant itself will offer a beautiful setting for all occasions.”

Helen Morgan is the Centre Director at St David’s, she added……

“The Ivy Asia will be a fantastic addition to our restaurant offering and we expect it to be very popular. We know our guests will enjoy The Ivy Asia’s high-quality food and drink, served in a gorgeous setting.”

No menus to show you as yet but the pictures above show us we are in for a real treat. You can take a look at THE IVY ASIA site HERE, although it is still in the early stages and will be fully launched closer to the restaurant opening. We do know that a fantastic Afternoon Tea menu will be included with duck spring rolls and a selection of Mochi. As well as the Asian tea selection you can also fizz it up with a glass of champagne.
