Adventure Cinema always turn out fantastic seasons of outdoor movie screenings, and the line up for this year is just as good. There are new venues along with new movies and some good old outdoor favourites.

With that in mind, it’s nice to get in early and book yourself tickets for this years line up. If the success of previous outdoor screenings are anything to go by, we’re pretty certain these will sell out faster than Greased Lightning.

We’re in for a feast of movies such as GREASE, WEST SIDE STORY, MAMMA MIA!, ROCKETMAN, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, PULP FICTION, GLADIATOR, PRETTY WOMAN, and no season would be complete without a bit of HARRY POTTER.

There are lots of movies, in some of amazing surroundings, and to keep things simple, we’ve listed them alphabetically, by venue name rather than location.

ABERYSTWYTH ARTS CENTRE

This award-winning arts centre, one of the largest in the UK, has been recognised as a ‘national flagship for the arts’, and Adventure Cinema are thrilled to be adding it to their list of picnic venues for 2022. Pull up a deckchair and enjoy a curated movie experience in style, minutes from beautiful Cardigan Bay.

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW – WEDNESDAY 24th AUGUST (8:45pm)

What is so great about this movie is the singing and dancing, which I can pretty much guarantee will happen all the way through the screening. If you’ve never bee, trust us, it’s hilarious. More for the crowd than anything else. TRAILER.

MAMMA MIA! – THURSDAY 25th AUGUST (8:45pm)

Screenings take place on the lawn behind the Arts Centre. The Arts Centre is situated at the heart of the Aberystwyth University campus SY23 3DE. BUTE PARK – CARDIFF

Coopers Field is a green field site located in Cardiff’s historic 146-acre Bute Park, which includes an arboretum, Victorian gardens and friary ruins. A popular venue for parties and celebrations since the 19th century, we’re carrying on that proud Welsh tradition with magical cinema events under the stars.

MAMMA MIA! FRIDAY 29th JULY (8pm) TRAILER.

WEST SIDE STORY – SATURDAY 30th JULY (2pm)

PULP FICTION – SATURDAY 30th JULY (8pm)

Rather than show you the trailer, here’s the famous dance routine between Uma Thurman and John Travolta.

“I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take ME out and do WHATEVER I WANTED. Now I wanna dance, I wanna win. I want that trophy, so dance good.”

Not only is it a stand-out moment in the movie, but one we reckon will be recreated during the screening in Bute Park.

HARRY POTTER & THE PHILOSOPHERS STONE – SUNDAY 31st JULY (2pm)

This is definitely one for the whole family. 11 year old Daniel Radcliffe starring in the first in the series of the classic HP movies.
