Following overwhelming demand for Van Morrison’s sold-out September 2026 UK dates, he has announced 10 additional UKshows forOctober and November 2026.
The tour opens with two nights at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on 8th & 9th October and closes at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on 3rd November. The date we’re excited about is Sunday 11th October when he gets to the Swansea Building Society Arena for what is going to be an unforgettable night.
Here’s five ‘Did You Know’ moments about Van the Man…..
- He turned down the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame ceremony When Van Morrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, he didn’t attend the ceremony. Instead, fellow Northern Irish musician Sir Bob Geldof accepted the honour on his behalf and even performed Gloria for the audience. It’s a perfect example of Morrison’s lifelong preference for letting the music speak louder than public appearances.
- He wrote one of rock’s greatest albums before turning 24 Astral Weeks is regularly voted among the greatest albums ever made, yet Morrison was just 23 years old when he recorded it in New York in 1968. Despite modest sales on release, it has since become one of the most influential albums in modern music history, inspiring generations of artists across folk, rock and jazz.
- His live shows are famously unpredictable Fans never quite know what they’re going to hear. Rather than relying on greatest-hits sets, Morrison regularly reinvents songs, changes arrangements and mixes blues, jazz, soul and Celtic influences into every performance. Two nights on the same tour can feature remarkably different setlists.
- His nickname comes from his childhood Morrison has long been known as “Van the Man”, but the nickname wasn’t invented by the music press. It dates back to his teenage years when he fronted Belfast R&B bands, reflecting the confidence and charisma he displayed from an early age.
- He has received one of the UK’s highest honours In 2016, Van Morrison was knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II for his services to the music industry and tourism in Northern Ireland. The honour recognised a career spanning more than six decades and a catalogue that includes classics such as Brown Eyed Girl, Moondance, Into the Mystic and Have I Told You Lately.
The tour announcement follows another landmark year for Van, who was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Jazz FM Awards 2026, marking another milestone in his long and influential career.
This year, Van released Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge to widespread critical acclaim. Last month, the album was issued on vinyl for the first time as a deluxe double LP. The album is a return to the blues with fresh takes on songs by B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Lead Belly and more.
