One of our biggest free shows is back and if the weekend weather is anything like last year it will be a show like no other. No matter what however, thousands will turn up to one of our biggest Airshows on Swansea Bay. Last year they smashed the attendance record, the weather was perfect and the organisers felt it was the best ever! With that in mind, they’re looking to make 2020 even bigger with even more exciting air display teams and entertainment.
As yet they are still to confirm the full line up, as soon as they do will bring you the highlights. We don’t need any excuse to look back at what was a brilliant summer, especially at the moment, so let’s relieve last year’s event.
Breathtaking aerobatic displays, state-of-the-art military aircraft and vintage planes from the past thrilled tens of thousands of visitors in Swansea Bay once again.
Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Innovation, Regeneration and Tourism, said…….
“It was yet another fantastic weekend for Swansea. On the 50th anniversary of Swansea being named a city, the After Dark event proved to be a huge success.”
“Hot air balloons, the Tigers parachute display team, the Fireflies aerobatic display team topped-off by an amazing fireworks display made for a real party atmosphere.”
“The Airshow contributes millions of pounds to local businesses and the local economy every year. We’d like to thank local businesses and residents for their patience with the road closures and to all traders for their contribution to the show’s success year on year.”
Cllr Francis-Davies said…..
“The real stars of the show, apart from those in the skies, were the hundreds of thousands of people who came to enjoy a day out or a weekend in Swansea. The family atmosphere they helped generate resulted in one of the best weekends the city has seen.”
“I also want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the tremendous effort put in by council staff and our other partners to make the event such a brilliant showcase. I’d also like to thank our sponsors who help to support the sustainability of the Show.”
“We’re confident that the thousands of visitors who enjoyed themselves last year will return to Swansea Bay again soon. We are already looking forward giving more people even more reasons to visit.”
We realise this is all from last year but if you missed the whole weekend, or indeed you were there and just want to look back, this is the place to do it. Also, it gives us a feel for what we can expect this year.

The travel situation will be the same this year.A range of car parks will be set up to cater for the event to help make your experience as enjoyable as possible. The advice is, to book in advance if you can.
The car parks available are tiered 1 – 3 based on their distance to the event, and there is also a brand new dedicated Park & Ride service, which was introduced last year, with new express routes.
Last year, and to celebrate Swansea’s 50th anniversary there was a special ‘after dark’ event taking place on the airshow event site on the Saturday between 8.30pm and 10.30pm. We’ll let you know, as soon as we do if it’s happening again.
Last year they introduced an ultimate guide to the Wales Airshow in the palm of your hand with the official Wales Airshow App.
It’s like your digital programme, you’ll have everything you need to know about the event at your fingertips, including live updates, the official timetable of displays, plane bios, exclusive money off vouchers and much more.
The free Wales Airshow will return to Swansea Bay on Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th July. For more information CLICK HERE and bookmark this page for more news as we get it.
