Miles Jupp Talks Brain Surgery and Touring

Since MILES JUPP last toured back in 2017 he’s been working pretty much non-stop, appearing on our screen in The Full Monty on Disney+, The Durrells and Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? on ITV, as well as a heap of episodes of Frankie Boyle’s New World Order and Have I Got News For You.

He’s made an award-winning radio series and he’s published a novel. But for Covid, he would have played a lead at the RSC. Nevertheless he’s done a play in the West End and played the Emperor of Austria and Europe in a Ridley Scott film.

We’d like to say it’s been non-stop for Miles recently, but in the middle of it all, and like the proverbial bolt out of the blue, he suddenly suffered a brain seizure. This led to the discovery of a tumour the size of a cherry tomato, and an urgent need need to undergo major neurosurgery.

As you can imagine that experience has left him with a few stories he’d like to share, and what better place than on stage in his latest tour ON I BANG.

The show is a tale about surprise, fear, love, luck and qualified medical practitioners, including the brain surgery. We figured the man himself can do a much better job about telling us about this latest tour, which bring him to the Swansea Grand, The Sherman Theatre and Borough in Abergavenny.

We talk about all that is on stage but also his love for our theatre’s, starting with St David’s Hall, which was his last your stop in 2017.
