Hot flushes, mood swings, memory lapses, weight gain – no, not a line from a revamped Sound Of Music, but very much a few (un) favourite menopausal things!
The show itself needs no introduction as the first tour was an absolute smash, so it’s time to get on board for the hysterical sequel MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL® – CRUISING THROUGH THE MENOPAUSE!
In this show we fast forward five years to catch up with the same four characters for tales of their lives, loves and losses as they set off on the high seas.
For these four ladies the menopause was not the beginning of the end, but the beginning of a beautiful friendship where love conquers, and friendships never fail.
Starring CRISSY ROCK (Benidorm), REBECCA WHEATLEY (Casualty), NICKI FRENCH (Eurovision), and SUSIE FENWICK (West End Star). Here’s a look at the trailer……
The first show, Menopause the Musical, has been around for a long time, in fact it premiered in 2001 in Orlando, Florida, in a 76-seat theatre that once housed a perfume shop. The backdrop was a Bloomingdale’s lingerie sale where the cast of four women meet with nothing in common but a black lace bra – and chocolate binges, loss of memory, hot flushes, night sweats, and sexual predicaments.
They sang parodied versions of 25 classic songs such as “Stayin’ Awake”, “I Heard It Thru The Grapevine You No Longer See 39”, “Puff, My God I’m Draggin’” and “My Husband Sleeps Tonight”.
Within a few years, international productions became commonplace and across the world over twelve million people (nearly all women) have seen the show.
But don’t worry if you missed the first because although Menopause The Musical 2 is a sequel, the show stands alone.
Like most live theatre, this suffered through the pandemic. It premiered in 2020 but was closed by lockdown after only a few performances. It did get outstanding reviews, and a very loyal audience has been patiently waiting for the show to go back on tour. Enjoy!
Cruising Through Menopause is a hilarious, heartfelt, reassuring and unflinching look at the joys of menopause and friendship. When your life is a bumpy ride full of twists and turns, it’s hard to find true friends.
But step on board and the ladies will take you on a trip of self-discovery, love and friendship all backed by a soundtrack of brand-new toe-tapping parodied hits!
Above all else the show is about friendship, and let’s be honest, going through the menopause is a time when you really need the support of your mates.
So, all aboard and the ladies will have you laughing, singing and dancing, as you join Menopause the Musical 2 – Cruising Through Menopause.
