The sun shone bright on Caldicot Town Team’s FAMILY FUN DAY in the heart of the town. It’s a much-loved staple in the event calendar each year, give or take the occasional pandemic that is. This year, to celebrate a touch of ‘business as usual’ for the organisers, they had all the fun of the circus, and we can tell you the crowd loved it.

Using that well-worn phrase, there was something for everyone, there really was.

On the stage there was a touch of Disney with Encanto and our favourite Frozen Princess. The kids could keep themselves entertained on the fun fair rides while Mum and Dad tucked in to some yummy food brought in for the event, or indeed the restaurants and cafe’s who were doing a roaring trade.

There was a stilt walker, balloon making, bubble blowing and even an elephant and gorilla – PT Barnum would have been in his element. And never on to be shy, you could even throw a ball or two at a coconut.

The free event was put together by Caldicot Town Team, a community group, made up of a mix of Businesses, Residents and Landlords. They work with community groups to build a better, more vibrant, economically prosperous town.

We dropped into the Family Fun Day to see what the Town Team had organised for the community, we also spoke to their volunteer Director AARON REAKS.

CALDICOT FAMILY FUN DAY

The Caldicot Town Team say…….

We want to bring back a real sense of community with events that currently take place in and around Caldicot, and bring back some events that no longer take place, for one reason or another, we want to expand on this, Severnside has some real jewels that should be taken advantage of, we want to put Severnside on the tourist map, bringing in such things as a digital history trail, a new incredible edible scheme, and making public the history that we have to offer.’
