Once again DUA LIPA had an amazing showing at the 2021 BRITS with a stunning performance, which began on a London tube, and finished with a stage filled with dancers and her biggest hits.
We’ll get to see her stunning show when she finally gets to Cardiff tonight, April 27th on the rescheduled date.
On accepting her award she also called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to give NHS workers a pay rise. She demanded Boris have a change of heart and offer frontline workers more than the proposed 1% pay rise after their hard work during the pandemic.
She also dedicated an award to Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu who has been a pioneer for change and for women for decades.
Dua said………..
“She has spent her stellar nursing career fighting racial injustice.
She has also spent so much time and is a strong, strong advocate for protecting frontline workers. She has also said that there’s a massive disparity between gratitude and respect for frontline workers because it’s very good to clap for them but we need to pay them.“
With some of the catchiest ear worm songs of the last few years, DUA LIPA is well and truly on the music map. There’ll be more of those with a hugely successful current album and tour, which brings her to South Wales. She is not only a singer but songwriter and model. After working as a model, she signed with Warner Music 2015 and released her first song, “New Love“.
And although this wasn’t the song to break her, it showed what an incredible talent she is and we knew there was more to come. It didn’t take long, she broke through in the UK with her 2016 single Hotter than Hell. She has since collaborated with the likes of Sean Paul and Martin Garrix. She scored her first Number 1 single in August 2017 with New Rules. In her song she lists the rules as, ‘Don’t pick up the phone’, ‘Don’t let him in’ and ‘Don’t be his friend’. Go to a DUA LIPA gig and it’s those rules you’ll hear filling the room from the crowd.
Her debut album is actually like a Greatest Hits in itself with seven singles, including two UK top-ten singles “Be the One” and “IDGAF” and the UK number-one single “New Rules”, which also reached number six in the United States. The single “One Kiss” with Calvin Harris reached number one in the UK, and became the longest running number one for a female artist in 2018.
Incredibly, each of those songs have been viewed over half a billion times on You Tube. The success of the singles helped her self-titled album to become the most streamed female album ever on Spotify, and to achieve platinum in several countries, including the UK and the US.
She released the lead single “Don’t Start Now” from her upcoming second album, which is planned to be released next year. It’s already a massive hit worldwide with over 170 million streams to date. Her show stopping Award performances of the song at The EMA’s, The AMA’s and The ARIA’s have also dazzled and delighted millions of viewers and fans everywhere.
The current album, FUTURE NOSTALGIA is everything you’d expect from Dua and we’re sure it’ll add to her growing collection of trophies. She has been the recipient of three Brit and two Grammy Awards.

Speaking about ‘Future Nostalgia’ Dua told us……..
“What I wanted to do with this album was to break out of my comfort zone and challenge myself to make music that felt like it could sit alongside some of my favourite classic pop songs, whilst still feeling fresh and uniquely mine. I was inspired by so many artists on the new record from Gwen Stefani to Madonna to Moloko to Blondie and Outkast, to name just a few.”
“Because of the time that I’d spent on the road touring with my band I wanted ‘Future Nostalgia’ to have a lot more of a live element, but mixed together with modern electronic production. My sound has naturally matured a bit as I’ve grown up but I wanted to keep the same pop sensibility as I had on the first record. I remember that I was on my way to a radio show in Las Vegas thinking about the direction for this new record and I realised that what I wanted to make was something that felt nostalgic but had something fresh and futuristic about it too.”
Of course, with an album comes a tour and Dua hasn’t disappointed. Her European dates have all been rescheduled. Yes she is coming here, the first time in three years.
