It’s been quite a 12 months for ST DAVID’S Cardiff, opened 10 new stores last year with a promise of more to come in 2024.
Brands joining the mix at the city shopping destination include Thai restaurant GIGGLING SQUID and GAUCHO, famed for its Argentinian steak, as well as luxury beauty store SPACENK – all firsts for Wales.
Staying first-for-fashion, ALL SAINTS relocated across St David’s to open a stunning new concept store while CREW CLOTHING moved, also launching a brand-new store.
New St David’s retailers included global brand SUNGLASS HUT, the first Welsh bubble tea café for BUBBLE CITEA, mobile phone accessories and repair specialists MOBILE BITZ and menswear brand RAGING BULL which was founded by ex-England rugby player Phil Vickery.
2023 also saw The SAFE Foundation open a sustainable shopping store, ETHICAL BOUTIQUE, selling pre-loved clothing and running a Conscious Coffee stand at weekends. The employability programme, funded by St David’s owner Landsec’s Futures Fund, offers free barista and hospitality training for asylum seekers, refugees, long-term unemployed people and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds while serving delicious, ethically-sourced coffee.
Alongside the addition of new stores, seven brands completed refits and refreshes. This includes H&M, Warren James, M&S, Swarovski, Schuh, Starbucks and independent produce store A Welsh Secret which also opened a new art gallery room.
Helen Morgan, Centre Director of St David’s Cardiff told us……
“As a leading retail destination, it’s important for St David’s to continually innovate to be dynamic, fresh and exciting, attracting new shoppers and keeping our guests coming back time and time again. 2023 was a busy year and it’s fantastic to have introduced so many firsts for Wales within St David’s alongside our designer brands, high street favourites and local independents.
Even though we’re only at the start of 2024, we’re already preparing for another exciting line up of new brands and refreshes and we’re looking forward to announcing more details in the coming months.”
