Ivor Novello award-winning, multi-platinum selling indie-pop band THE FEELING are out on the road with their highly anticipated ‘Greatest Hits Tour’ as they celebrate two decades of musical excellence.
The tour, which gets to Tramshed in Cardiff tonight (Sunday 5th May) promises an unforgettable journey through the band’s illustrious career, treating fans to chart-topping classics and iconic hits.
Emerging from the heart of the noughties music scene, The Feeling embody an era of unadulterated sonic brilliance. Their meteoric rise saw them dominate the charts, achieving four UK Top 10 hits and a staggering six weeks on the Singles Charts.
The band burst onto the English music scene with the release of their UK Top 10 single ‘Fill My Little World’. Three more hit singles from ‘Twelve Stops and Home’ and by the end of 2006, The Feeling were the most played act on UK radio. The record showcased the band’s remarkable songwriting prowess and began an incredible musical journey.
With much to chat about we caught up with singer and songwriter DAN GILLESPIE SELLS at his studio. Obviously, the band and their new album was top of our list but we couldn’t resist a little mention of one our favourite musicals, EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE, which Dan wrote the score for.
Building on their initial triumph, the band released their second album, ‘Join With Us’ in February 2008, which soared to the top of the UK charts. The album’s massive success paved the way for unforgettable performances including a show-stopping appearance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, solidifying their meteoric rise in the music world.
The ‘Greatest Hits Tour’ is not merely a concert; it’s a celebration of two decades of musical excellence. A chance for fans to relive the magic that made The Feeling one of the most unforgettable bands of their time. Spanning from May 3 to May 18, the tour will encompass 12 cities across the UK, offering fans the opportunity to hear their favourite anthems, including hits like “Fill My Little World,” “Sewn,” “Love It When You Call,” and many more.
Reflecting on their journey Dan told us…..
“We’ve poured our hearts and souls into creating music that resonates with people. This tour is our way of celebrating that connection with our fans and reliving the moments that have defined us as a band.”
2024 sees the band celebrate nearly 20 years of releasing records – and even more together as a band. ‘San Vito’ is their seventh studio album, it was written and recorded in Southern Italy and saw theband decamp there to self-produce the record as a band together. What began as a short writing trip, turned into a full album project with the Italian sun, food and culture seeping through into the sounds on the record.
The title ‘San Vito‘ is influenced by the name of the local town San Vito Dei Normanni where the band spent their time off from the studio soaking in the local culture, food and pizzica music. Highlights include lead single “The Right Wrong”- a driving indie-pop anthem about freeing yourself from judgement, a gorgeous duet with US-based country singer Lucie Silvas & plenty of the flamboyant, upbeat 70s-inspired harmonised indie-pop that the band are adored for.
