If you live in Pontypridd you will have plenty to enjoy this July and August with a jam-packed series of fun-filled events and activities for all, planned by Pontypridd Town Council.

A variety of free activities and entertainment are lined up across Pontypridd over the Summer months for the Council’s Tymor yr Haf – Summer Season, taking place at Pontypridd Museum, Meadow Street Community Garden, and the Taff Meadow and Graig community centres.

Pontypridd Museum’s popular family craft activities return for the school holidays, with sessions running every Wednesday between 12pm – 3pm from July 24th through until August 28th.

Funtastic Fridays are back at the Museum with a pop-up Planetarium to delight star-gazers with an out-of-this-world experience. Sessions will be held on July 26th, August 23rd and August 30th.

Enjoy the great outdoors in Meadow Street Community Garden, come along and explore the grounds, chat with our team and find out about getting involved. The garden is open to all each Wednesday from 3pm – 7pm, Thursday from 12pm – 7pm and Sunday from 10am – 3pm.

As Pontypridd prepares to welcome the National Eisteddfod this August, the museum is celebrating the town’s distinct links with the festival. A special exhibition will look at the 1893 Pontypridd Eisteddfod along with William Edwards and the new bridge, Evan and James James and the Welsh National Anthem and much more. The exhibition includes special loans from Amgueddfa Cymru and Brynmawr Museum as well as objects from Pontypridd Museum’s reserve collection, not seen in many years. It runs from August 1st – September 21st.

Visitors to the museum will also be able to enjoy the revamped shop, stocked with books, cards and gifts celebrating Pontypridd’s rich history.

During August, Pontypridd Museum, Meadow Street Community Garden, Taff Meadow and Graig community centres are hosting a variety of daytime and evening events, including music, comedy, poetry and talks, featuring a wealth of well-known Welsh talent and celebrating local artists, musicians, historians and raconteurs with something for all the family to enjoy.

The events run from August 3rd – 10th, are free to attend but tickets are required. The full line up and link to book tickets is available on Pontypridd Town Council’s website.

Pontypridd Town Council will have a stall on the Eisteddfod Maes, where Eisteddfod-goers can find out more about the council and its work with the local community and the services, community facilities and community partnerships it provides.

Pontypridd Town Council Leader, Councillor Simon Pritchard told us…..

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Eisteddfod to Pontypridd and to showcase what the area has to offer to visitors and the local community alike. We have a thrilling Summer of wonderful Welsh culture ahead of us and we look forward to seeing you all over the coming weeks.’

We’re delighted to announce our Tymor yr Haf events and to welcome back some Summer family-favourites along with introducing new events across all our locations throughout Pontypridd. From the museum in the town centre, to Meadow Street Community Garden and Taff Meadow and Graig community centres, we have activities and events planned for all the family to enjoy.”
