TOM GRENNAN has today (Jan 31st) announced details of his new album ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn’t Want To Be’ and shared new single ‘Shadowboxing’. The 15-track album is the multi-platinum-selling artist’s fourth and serves as the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2023’s ‘What Ifs & Maybes’. It is set for release on August 15th through Insanity Records. The news includes the announcement of the GRENNAN ’25 tour, comprising his biggest run of shows to date with a major 11-date arena tour of the UK & Ireland in September.
‘Shadowboxing’ comes hot on the heels of Tom’ Grennan’s’s Top 3 festive smash ‘It Can’t Be Christmas (Amazon Music Original)’ which immediately gained silver certification in its first run at the Christmas title. Tom achieved his highest ever singles chart for a solo rele25ase and was only narrowly held off the top spot by Christmas titans Wham! and Mariah Carey.
With two number one albums under his belt alongside multiple Brit and Ivor Novello nominations, countless airplay smashes, sold-out arena tours and an MTV Award for Best UK Act, Tom Grennan is already one of the country’s biggest artists. Last August saw the Bedford-born artist headline his biggest show to date to a capacity crowd of 25,000 at Gunnersbury Park.
Now he’s readying to take things to a whole new level still with a state-of-the-art pop album made with Justin Tranter. Keen to explore a new sound, Tom enlisted the songwriter and producer behind hits for Britney Spears, Linkin Park, Dua Lipa and Fall Out Boy and found in Tranter a collaborator who understood exactly what he wanted to say and what he wanted to sound like: George Michael, Prince, Freddie Mercury.
Tom told us…..
“So much of the new music is uplifting – it makes you dance, makes you sing.”
‘Shadowboxing’ is the second song to be unveiled from Tom’s forthcoming album following the release of slick, upbeat single ‘Higher’ in September, and was the first song he and Justin Tranter wrote together.
“It represents what the whole album is about,” Tom explains. “It’s about my fight with a side of me I have a lot of trouble with. It’s still a daily battle. But I’ve learned how to fight all these demons and I’m mentally and physically prepared now. I’m in athlete mode.”
While the title alludes to a time when Tom faced challenges with his mental health, ‘Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn’t Want To Be’ is a positive album about self-belief and having the confidence to take risks.
“This album is about me, revived. Now I’m at a place where I DO want to be. And I’m ready to blow people’s heads off.”
It sees the evolution of one of UK’s most exciting talents at his creative best and is set to be a stunning addition to Tom Grennan’s already-impressive discography, which has seen him accumulate over 1.5 million album sales and 2.5 billion streams across his gold-selling debut Lighting Matches (2018), his first UK Number One album Evering Road (2021) and What Ifs & Maybes (2023), another Number One and Tom’s third gold-selling album in a row. That third album was also, he says, an early hint of what was to come.
“It was the first time I thought: ‘I don’t want to just be a singer-songwriter’,” he remembers. “It established the foundation for where I am with this album.”
TOM GRENNAN is set to play his biggest ever run of shows when he embarks on an 11-date UK & Ireland arena tour in September. The GRENNAN ’25 tour kicks off in Bournemouth on September 3rd and includes a show at The O2 Arena in London on September 6th before wrapping in Manchester on September 19th. In between those dates he gets to the Utilita Arena in Cardiff on Tuesday 9th September.
Fans who pre-order Tom’s new album before Tuesday 4th February at 3pm will gain exclusive access to a pre-sale on Wednesday 5th February at 10am. Tickets will then go on general sale on Friday 7th February at 10am.
