DISNEY ON ICE PRESENTS 100 YEARS OF WONDER is returning to the UK for a second and final time, getting to the Utilita Arena in Cardiff from Thursday 13th through to Sunday 16th March. The show really is a magical experience for families, bringing together your most beloved Disney characters, with stunning costumes and incredible special effects as your favourites spin, sparkle and come to life before your eyes.

We caught up with one of the skaters, SEAN ISAAC-PARRY from Kinmel in North Wales. He’s been skating since he was 10 years old. He said that it is a “dream come true” to live out his “childhood favourite films on ice and inspire other children”.

Sean Isaac-Parry

Sean, it must be a real joy to see so many families having a fantastic time at the show – how does that feel?

“Seeing all the families having a great time during the ice show brings me such joy, it’s such a privilege to bring these stories to life on the ice.”

We all have our favourite Disney character, do you have a special favourite?

“My favourite Disney character is Maui from the movie Moana, I just love his cool and calm attitude.”

Of course it’s not just the characters, the Disney soundtrack is very special (and enormous). What’s your favourite to skate to?

“My favourite to skate to is Family Madrigal from Encanto sung by Mirabel, I  love how upbeat the tempo is combined with the colourful lights when you’re on the ice.”

Tell us how your own skating journey began.

“I started skating at 10 years old at Deeside ice rink and from my first moment on the ice I completely fell in love with the sport.”

Tell us about the moment you found out you were joining the Disney on Ice Family.

“I was 19 years old, just getting ready for bed, having done an audition a few months prior, I went to check my phone one last time and saw I had an email with my first contract. The first thing I did was call my mum and scream.”

The show is relentless and you’re skating all the time, sometimes three shows a day. What about practice and rehearsals, when do you fit all that into an already packed schedule?

“At the start of every touring period, we have two weeks of rehearsals where we learn the show, after that the show hits the road. During the time on the road, we may have some rehearsals but it varies due to the show’s needs. We also have the opportunity to skate before and/or after the performances if we would like, to practice and learn new skills.”

DISNEY ON ICE PRESENTS 100 YEARS OF WONDER

No matter where in the world you are skating with Disney on Ice, coming home to Wales must be the ice (sorry, icing) on the cake?

“It’s such an honour to be able to share the Welsh culture and our language with all my friends from all over the world. Performing for the people of Cardiff will be special.”

Finally Sean, tell us what we can expect in the show when you get to the Utilita Arena in Cardiff.

“The audiences can expect a wide variety of  spins, tricks and even aerial acrobatics, as we follow Mickey and His friends as they try to discover Mickey’s favourite memory. The stories include; Toy Story, Moana, a medley of our favourite princesses, Fantasia, Finding Dory and the newest addition to our show, Encanto.”
