Eye Cymru Experience Cardiff Castle Like Never Before

As if CARDIFF CASTLE isn’t spectacular enough, it’s now set to be transformed with an immersive laser and sound experience.

It will be an incredible experience, featuring the work, and talent of CHRIS LEVINE.

Eye Cymru at Cardiff Castle

Chris is a light artist who works across many mediums in pursuit of an expanded state of perception and awareness through image and form. His work considers light not just as a core aspect of art, but of human experience more widely and a spiritual, meditative and philosophical edge permeates his work.

Chris is perhaps best known for producing what is already being described as one of the most iconic images of the twenty-first century, Lightness of Being. With light and stillness at its core, the sensational portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II presents an utterly fresh depiction of the most famous woman in the world. The National Portrait Gallery stated it was the most evocative image of a royal by any artist.

Chris began his love affair with light and art while he was still at school/ He said……

“I started exploring holograms at art school where it became clear it was a highly technical process and a laboratory exercise rather than a creative art form. Eventually it was the lasers used to make the holograms that really excited me. Laser light is very pure, single wavelengths on light that we don’t normally experience day to day. I remember seeing my first laser at the science museum as a kid and being spellbound.”

But it’s capturing subjects in meditative moments which excite him artistically…..

“Increasingly my work and direction has been informed directly out of meditation. Stillness is a portal to the divine, and by taking my subjects towards stillness, it allows for a more soulful connection with the subject, and that light radiates in the work.”

Eye Cymru

But EYE CYMRU is more than the incredible immersive light experience, it’s to be soundtracked by multi-million selling, award-winning artists Gruff Rhys, Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack) and Nick Mulvey.

It will also feature a special live collaboration with Gruff and Nick.

EYE Cymru is unique and unmissable, and knowing what Chris Levine’s work is like, it will definitely lighten your world. It runs at Cardiff Castle from Thursday 14th to Sunday 31st October.

We’ll bring you more, once we know more, however, we’ve heard that each show lasts approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. On some days there’ll be two showings, 6:45pm to 9:00pm and the final show from 9:30pm to 11:30pm.

Early Bird tickets are available now for a limited time, and we suspect this is the best time to get them, we reckon they’ll be going fast.

To get your tickets, and find out more about the event, just go here – EYE CYMRU.
