Wales Millennium Centre has unveiled a new season of pioneering experiences at BOCS, a multi-sensory exhibition space specially designed for immersive and XR (Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality) installations. The programme will explore our relationship with desire, identity and nostalgia through a series of five commissions. Bocs offers an intimate, unique setting on the ground floor of Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay.

A season highlight is Impulse: Playing with Reality, a 40-minute mixed reality experience by award-winning studio Anagram and narrated by Tilda Swinton. Winner of the Venice Immersive Achievement Award, it explores ADHD through the powerful stories of four individuals, challenging perceptions and deepening understanding.
Impulse is designed to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to engage with this powerful experience. The event is a Pay What You Can experience, with ticket options at £2, £5, or £8, making it accessible to a broad audience regardless of financial circumstances.
Additionally, the venue is fully wheelchair accessible and trained facilitators will be on hand throughout the experience to provide support and guidance for those who may require assistance.
David Massey, Senior Producer, Digital Experiences told us….
“As we enter our third year of immersive programming at Wales Millennium Centre, we’re excited to launch our 2025–2026 season, deepening our commitment to creatives working at the intersection of art, storytelling, and technology. This season, we’ve invited artists who are reshaping narratives to reflect the world around us and spark dialogue with audiences. We look forward to welcoming audiences into shared, participatory experiences where they’ll help carry the story forward.”
We went to meet David when BOCS opened to find out more about this incredible, interactive space. You can watch the interview HERE.
Kirsty Jennings, Managing Director, Anagram added…..
“Bocs is such an important venue in the UK for artists and studios like us at Anagram; a dedicated space that understands the importance of showing XR works, bringing in new audiences and platforming innovative artists. We’re fully in support of a space that makes world-class art accessible to audiences through their outreach programmes and their Pay What You Can model. Goliath, our first work in the Playing with Reality collection, opened the Bocs space three years ago, and now we’re back to launch the new season with Impulse.”

Bocs continues to transform storytelling through creativity and immersive tech. For its 2025–2026 season, Wales Millennium Centre presents bold, boundary-pushing experiences in intimate settings, including the UK premieres of Monsieur Vincent – an immersive journey into the vibrant and deeply emotional world of Vincent van Gogh’s art, Ceci est mon coeur -a contemporary, multi sensory tale of an extraordinary love story, that of a child’s reconciliation with his body, and Rose Bond’s Earths to Come – a communal VR theatre piece inspired by a Emily Dickinson poem. Also returning is a new version of the award-winning In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats by Darren Emerson & East City Films, inviting audiences on a nostalgic, immersive journey into the 1989 Acid House rave scene.
