St David’s Cardiff has announced the return of its Christmas Appeal in support of a variety of children’s and family charities across Cardiff and South Wales.
The charity drive will help 24 local organisations in the run up to Christmas this year, including…….
- Noah’s Ark Childrens Hospital Charity, which works with the NHS to provide the hospital with state-of-the-art equipment, facilities, and family support services, ensuring the best treatment and outcomes possible for its young patients.
- Cardiff Foodbank, distributing food to people across Cardiff who are facing a financial crisis.
- Ray of Light Cancer Support which provides a confidential, safe, and non-judgemental space to support people affected by cancer.
- Sparkle, an organisation supporting children and young people with disabilities and their families to ensure they are able to participate in valued childhood experiences.
- Kidney Wales, supporting kidney patients and their families and promoting excellence in kidney research, education, and treatment within Wales.
- St David’s Charity of The Year, City Hospice, providing home-based specialist palliative care and services including welfare advice, complementary therapies, counselling and support services for patients and their families.
Donations can be made to the centre’s appeal station, situated on the Lower Grand Arcade near Clogau and Swarovski, between 1st and 18th December. The appeal will be accepting physical donations of toys, toiletries, blankets and other gifts.
Of the appeal, Major Valerie Short from The Salvation Army said…..
“Last year we gave toys to nearly 300 children and young adults from around 120 families that are in financial crisis due to cost of living in the Cardiff & Vale area. The Christmas appeal is such a vital initiative to help us support these people”.
Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s told us….
“The festive season is a time of togetherness and community, where everyone deserves to feel loved and cared for, which is why we’re focusing on giving back to those in need as we announce the return of our Christmas Appeal at St David’s.
We know that our charity drives are always met with the upmost generosity from our guests, and we’re sure the thoughtful donations made will help make a real difference to those who need it most this Christmas”.
The festive spirit continues at St David’s as its brand-new Believe experience is now open. Guests can visit Santa’s enchanting post room and meet his mischievous elves as they sort through letters from children around the world, before enjoying a magical experience with the man in red to share their Christmas wishes. The grotto is located on the lower level of the Grand Arcade, next to the LEGO store and opposite Menkind, and is open to guests right up until Christmas Eve.
