The CARDIFF CASTLE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL is now underway in the specially-made Spiegel Theatre put up in the grounds of Sophia Gardens.

The venue itself is a magical place. As soon as you take off your coat, your eyes are immediately drawn to the large stage at the back. Lights down, curtains up, ready for a great night out.

A European Spielgeltent or magic mirrors is the ultimate cabaret and live entertainment location and our adaptation into a seated theatre space offers the most unique live show experience, when guests are never more than a few metres from the performers.

Built from wood, cut mirrors, canvas, leaded glass, and detailed in velvet brocade, Spiegeltents were used as travelling dance halls, Bohemian entertainment salons and wine tasting marquees during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They used to be the number one attraction at Belgian funfairs.

The festival is produced by Cardiff-based live events company Live Under the Stars, who bring us som many amazing events throughout the year.

When the Spiegel Theatre first arrived in Cardiff in 2022 we spoke to the festival producer and director RICHARD PERRY and JOHN MANDERS from Live under The Stars. Two incredibly proud Welsh men who were incredibly excited to bring this festive experience to the capital. You can watch that interview HERE.

At the heart of this years programme is a brand-new production for the whole family.

THE SNOW QUEEN musical adventure will run from 12th to 31st December, with the festive charm and beautiful surroundings, this will be an unforgettable experience for families and theatre lovers alike.
