Dementia Care Skills Day with Teepa Snow

Living with dementia is tough and challenging situations will inevitably arise. This training will provide practical hands-on strategies and methods for interacting with someone living with dementia. Emphasis will be placed on understanding how to flexibly approach a person for safe and effective connection, how to get permission, and how to build a supportive relationship for care and purposeful engagement. Visual, verbal, and tactile support cues and responses that help reduce distress will be rehearsed in the course. Learners will be able to identify the retained abilities of people living with dementia to foster improved interactions and relationship-focused care experiences.
