Any fan of ITV’s hit show Love Island will be as much of a fan as the voiceover man as they are the antics on the show itself. Well all love the sun, sex and for most of us, top of the list is the Stirling.is back, bringing with it its three irresistible ingredients: Sun, Sex and Stirling.
There’s no doubt that ITV2’s reality show wouldn’t be the same without the spot-on voiceover from IAIN STIRLING. His one-liners and barbed comments are as much a part of the show (more so for us) than the bronzed, loved up beauties trying to win the big money – sorry, we mean find true love.
Although Iain is into series number seven, he’s been on our screen for a good while now in various guises. I’m sure he won’t mind us saying this, he is first and foremost a proper, fully fledged stand up comedian, which is useful really as he’s just about to head out on a massive tour which brings him here to South Wales.

Iain started his stand-up life during his final year studying Law at the University of Edinburgh and has pretty much been on the comedy circuit ever since.
Iain performed in the final of the Chortle Student Comedian of The Year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2009, finishing runner-up to winner Joe Lycett. Just a short few years later he was out on the road touring with Russell Kane as his warm-up act.
Although known as an ITV man, Iain has made a few shows for CBBC including Scoop, Help! My Supply Teacher’s Magic and 12 Again, he also won a Bafta in 2016 for Best Children’s Presenter for hosting the comedy quiz programme The Dog Ate My Homework.
On top of all that Iain’s an author – his book Not Ready To Adult Yet looked back at his journey to adulthood to explore whether millennials are self-obsessed, work-shy, mollycoddled, egomaniacs, or just a misunderstood generation with a crippling fear of failure.
As well as hearing him on Love Island, where Iain found his own true love with Laura Whitmore, he’s enjoying massive success with CelebAbility, which is now in its fifth series on ITV2, and his first sitcom, Buffering, which hits our screen in August.
Iain is on the current run of Love Island enjoying the contestants doing what they do, just like we us. The only difference is he’s spending it in the Spanish sunshine.
We think the reason Iain’s voiceover works so well is that he appears to say what he sees. He said…..
“I show up, watch the show, think of some funny things to say and then speak over people having sex with each other.
“I’m the Instagram generation’s David Attenborough. It is animals in their natural environment here, isn’t it? So you could say, I just work with a different species to David.”
Taking his extremely funny comedy back on the road for his biggest nationwide tour, the star’s stand up show Failing Upwards will focus on how people manage to be normal.
Fans will get the opportunity to explore Iain’s inability to function in the most basic of public settings and how he deals with social media’s constant pressure to “live your best life”.
Iain gets to the Glee Club in Cardiff on Tuesday 28th September at 8pm. It’s the second night on his tour so he’ll be well into it by then. You can get tickets, which are £20.72 each, right HERE.
