South Wales born singer, songwriter and performer JAMES FOX is pretty well known around these parts and after a successful album back in 2021, he’s been working hard on new material which we finally get to hear today (12th January). “The Way That We Were” is the first single from a new self penned album to be released in the late Summer.
It follows the success of “All the Fours” and the singles “Fire & Coal”, “The Rest of Our Lives” and “Nightfall”.
The new single was written, recorded and produced by James and he plays every instrument on the track besides the drums, which were played by long time friend, Mike Sorrentino, in Long Island NYC.

You may recognise Swansea singer/songwriter STEVE BALSAMO in the video too.
On the writing of the track, James told us…….
“This song is a reflective but yet driving rock song, I wanted to have the contrast between the lyric and the music to give that sense of regret but also be uplifting at the same time”
James has had two Top 20 UK Singles to date and has worked with national treasure and lyricist to the stars, Sir Tim Rice in an illustrious career that has included representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004; supporting artists such as Tina Turner and Claire Teal; four West End and Broadway lead roles, including playing Paul McCartney in Let it Be and Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar;
With a career filled with many highlights James has also collected a Civilian Service Medal for his work entertaining the Armed Forces in Afghanistan and around the World and three performances for Her Majesty The Queen, to name but a few.
