We told you about these events last year and they were incredibly popular. It seems we love the idea of sitting with our kids, by the side of the water and just enjoying the company, and a few sandwiches and a little cuppa of course.
They are great events to get the kids (and you) off your mobile devices for a few hours. We’ve also had parents tell us that the positive impact on their children, both mentally and physically is enormous.
The free LET’S FISH events are really well worth doing. Fishing is fun, it’s good for your mind and body, and it’s something the whole family can enjoy. You’ll always remember the first time you caught a fish.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn to fish but didn’t know where to start, then one of these events across Wales is the answer. You can visit one of the FREE award-winning Let’s Fish! events and learn to fish with a team of professionally qualified angling coaches. All the bait and equipment is provided, so all you need to do is book in and turn up on the day. It really couldn’t get any better.
Take a look at their video HERE.
It’s your local angling club that hosts your local Let’s Fish! free learn to fish events. Not only can your whole family try fishing for free, at some events, there’ll be Explorers activities and canoe taster sessions too.
Everything you need to enjoy a fishing session is free on the day, such as tackle, bait, a rod licence and your fishing permit as well as expert coaching from one of our licensed Level Two coaches.
If you’d like a FREE how to fish guide, filled with loads of fun facts, activities and hints and tips to help you and your family cast off with confidence. Download your free digital guide today and get fishing together! Just go here. GUIDE
If you’d like to see more videos the Canals Trust have got a whole series of them to help you get started. Everything from the equipment and rigs, how to bait up – including maggots, unhooking and releasing and many more. You can find them HERE.
To take part in the LET’S FISH keep a regular eye both on the Canal Trust site, and we’ll update you right here when they come up in South Wales.
You can book one time slot per person. Spare spaces are often available on the day. Arrive 15 minutes before your booked slot. If you’re late they will still try to fit you, but you may have to wait until a suitable slot becomes available. If you’re going along as a spectator, remember to bring a folding chair as you need to be seated during the fishing session.
To find out more, and we recommend you get in quick if last year is anything to go by, just go here. FISH
