Following a sell-out debut year in 2019, LUMINATE WALES returns to Margam Country Park and Castle this Winter. A spectacular, illuminated trail, full of wonder and intrigue, to delight and enthral your senses.

As darkness descends, join us on our enchanting journey, as we weave a captivating light trail through the stunning, historic gardens of Margam Country Park and Castle.

Immerse yourself in our mesmerising mile long walk, encapsulating some of your highlights from 2019 along with stunning new elements, added to re-amaze you for 2021.

LUMINATE WALES the captivating light trail, will be arriving at Margam Country Park for a 4 week run. As darkness descends, stunning lighting elements and fabulous light play, all set to ambient music, will guide you along the mesmerising mile long trail, through the beautiful gardens and up to the Castle.

Be welcomed by Old Grandfather Tree and embark on your adventure through the first beautiful, light tunnel. Pause outside the Citrus House and play our keyboard and watch as, lit like never before, the Citrus House dances to your tune. Remember to leave your wishes at the colossal wishing tree, before heading up to Waterfall Bridge.

Make it past the troll and you’ll find yourself captivated by the whispers of tiny fairies in the enchanting fairy land. Continue your ascent to the Castle, and be amazed as the Castle facade comes to life with digital animation.The trail is one mile long and should take approximately 60-90 minutes to meander along, depending on your dwell time. Wrap up warm, you are welcome to stay as long as you like to enjoy every moment.

The trail starts just off the car park, near the Orangery where you will follow the route through the Gardens, ascending up to the Castle and the Castle Courtyard and Cafe, pass in front of the Castle and descend back down, finishing back at the Orangery. The trail is approx one mile long.

Warm up by the fire pit, where you can toast marshmallows (purchase your marshmallows on site or bring your own marshmallows and skewers) and indulge in some of the hot food and snacks available to purchase from the Courtyard cafe (approx 3/4’s of the way around the walk, closes at approx 9pm), and small drinks and mulled wine huts along the route.

The trial starts right from the car park, there are no shops/food drink in this area, only toilets so please only arrive at the time of your booked slot.

A Timeless experience to be enjoyed by all, young and old alike. The trail is open nightly from Thursday 18th November until Friday 24th December. Tickets must be pre-booked, online in advance. We can tell you that some days are sold out already.

LUMINATE WALES will be open nightly from 4.45pm until 9.30pm, with last entry to the trail at 8.30pm. Tickets are sold with fixed entry time slots, to ensure that the trail is enjoyed by everybody in the best possible light.
