Michael Ball And Guests Celebrate The Reopening Of Theatres With A Free Concert

If there’s anyone to celebrate the return of live music to our theatres then it has to be MICHAEL BALL. Later this month he’ll be heading back home to Wales to bring up the curtain on a star-studded show to celebrate all that is great about live music performed on a great stage.

Now, before you get too excited, we ought to tell you that all the tickets are gone – what’s even better for those lucky to have a pair, is that they are FREE.

The Donald Gordon Theatre is the perfect setting for a gala evening of hit songs from one of Britain’s most popular singers.

Michael said…..

“I always love coming home to Wales, and what a thrill to be back in the stunning Wales Millennium Centre.

It was a career milestone for me to be asked to take part in the grand opening concert of the Donald Gordon Theatre back in 2004 – I even sponsored a seat in the stalls in memory of my Welsh gran Lillian – and it’s a pleasure to be back again to celebrate its re-opening after lockdown. It’ll be a night to remember!”

Joining Michael on stage will be jazz and soul singer GREGORY PORTER, Grammy Award-winning songwriter AMY WADGE, singer and our own TV personality CHARLOTTE CHURCH, and Strictly Come Dancing’s AMY DOWDEN.

Nick Andrews is Head of Commissioning for BBC Wales, he said…..

“We are absolutely delighted that audiences across the country will be able to enjoy this unmissable gala evening for free, whether they are joining us in the theatre or from the comfort of their own homes later this Spring.

“Michael is a fantastic showman, and he will undoubtedly put on an amazing show. He has spoken at length about his love for Wales after spending so much time here as a child, and I’m sure audiences will be keen to show that love back to him.

“As a country we really missed live theatre performances during the pandemic. Hosting this incredible lineup of performers is a fantastic way of celebrating the return of audiences and will live long in the memory.”

A rare and unmissable musical event for one night only!

This event is being recorded by BBC Wales and will be run as a television show in front of an audience.

Michael Ball – Showtime will be the first televised event to take place at the venue’s Donald Gordon Theatre since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, with free tickets to the live performance on March 30th at 7:30pm before it is broadcast on the BBC this Spring.

As we said, tickets for the free event are now all snapped up, but it may be worth checking the Wales Millennium Centre website in case there are any returns – HERE.
