If you’ve only ever seen RICH HALL on TV or heard him on the radio then we are here to tell you, go see him live and you’re in for one hell of a night. If you need any proof you just have to look at the sell out venues, not only all over the UK but pretty much the world over.
Rich and his comedy-music locomotive will be rollin’ into Wales loaded with a brand new tour for this year. Rich Hall’s Hoedown Deluxe will be hitting the road with 45 dates, a lot of which have been rescheduled because of the current crisis.
Rich is American but spends so much time working here it’s easy to forget that he cut his comedy teeth, in some Mighty Fine company, as they mighty say back in his Motherland. His first professional work was as a writer and performer on the original David Letterman Show, forty years ago now (sorry Rich) and the sketch comedy TV series Fridays from 1980 until 1982.
He then co-wrote and starred in the satirical comedy series Not Necessarily the News from 1983 until 1990. He was also a regular on Saturday Night Live for the show’s tenth season.
Now this clip is really long, so grab a cuppa and enjoy the entire Letterman Show from exactly 35 years ago. Rich is great but he also shared the sofa with a pelican and a hippopotamus, we kid you not.
Ever-evolving and ever-changing, Rich Hall’s blend of keen acerbic stand-up combined with spit and sawdust alt-country lyricism is a “win-win” (Guardian). Since the shows original inception in 2013, fans keep returning as it goes where other comedians wouldn’t dare: Barrow-in-Furness for example.
Rich’s acclaimed BBC Four documentaries (Working For The American Dream and the upcoming Rich Hall’s Red Menace) and his BBC Radio 4 series Election Breakdown have established a whole new legion of followers. He’s also a stalwart of QI and Have I Got News For You. But seeing the Hoedown is a whole different experience. Gut-busting, rib-tickling, toe-tapping, and shit-kicking, Rich Hall’s Hoedown Deluxe covers the full anatomical spectrum.
Rich Hall’s Hoedown Deluxe will be will be heading into Wales and you can catch him……..
