The Pussycat Dolls New Date

The era defying, chart-topping, button-pushing, mega-group are back! THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS have reunited for a U.K. Tour, performing together for the first time in over a decade and we get to to see them on their rescheduled dates next year, and we reckon you’d be a fool to miss them.

Their reunion was partly inspired by the Spice Girls successful tour, as the women claimed they felt the series of shows was ‘inspiring’.

Initially, THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS were a dance ensemble, founded in Los Angeles by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a burlesque troupe. The press attention for the girls however was huge allowing Robin to negotiate a record deal in 2003 turning the group into a full-on music franchise.

The line up was Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberly Wyatt. Overseen by Robin, the group was transformed into a global image and commercial brand. THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS achieved worldwide success with hit singles “Don’t Cha”, “Buttons”, “Stickwitu”, and their first album PCD.

We’ve listened to Don’t Cha a few times this morning, and it brings back lots of memories for us here and we’re sure for you too.it really is a great song.

Despite their commercial success however, the group was plagued by internal conflict due to the emphasis on Nicole, the group’s lead vocalist, and the subordinate treatment of the other members. Bachar’s departure from the group preceded the release of their second and final studio album Doll Domination, which contains singles “When I Grow Up”, “I Hate This Part”, and “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)”. It feature A. R. Rahman, the musical genius behind so many soundtracks including Slumdog Millionaire.

In 2009, they announced a minor hiatus but in truth that was later revealed to be an official break-up. The Dolls went off and did their own things but still the group achieved success. Billboard ranked the Pussycat Dolls as the 80th most successful musical act of the 2000s. The group has sold 54 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. In 2012, THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS ranked 100th on VH1’s 100 Greatest Women in Music, and as the tenth all-girl group.

Nicole Scherzinger told us……

“I love all my girls so much and cannot wait to show you what we’ve got in store for you. It’s been a long time coming but this feels like the perfect time to remind the world what it means to be a Pussycat Doll”.

Speaking ahead of the announcement, Ashley said……

“It was ‘amazing and inspiring’ seeing Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Melanie Chisholm back together, but stopped short of saying the Spice Girls had prompted their reunion.”

Ashley & boyfriend Giovanni

“The Spice Girls – it’s amazing and inspiring that they all – except Victoria – got on stage and had some fun. We have been in the works for years trying to get this together. Really, it was divine timing for us all coming together.”

You can hear the Dolls make the tour announcement on Heart Radio below…….

Robin Antin, founder of THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS told us…..

“I created The Pussycat Dolls back in 1994 and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would become one of the most iconic girl groups of our time. I’ve been working on making this reunion happen now for years, so I am very excited that the stars have aligned for THE PCD REUNION!”

It’s with gratitude to our fans and during this amazing time of female empowerment, to be able to announce the launch of our PCD reunion, celebrating ALL GENDERS, & the brilliant success and talent of the girls that helped influence a movement that was long overdue”.

In their first television performance in ten years, THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS returned to the X Factor with an exclusive performance. Of course with any reformation of a band, new music inevitably follows, and the girls certainly haven’t disappointed us on that front.

You will notice that the line-up doesn’t include Melody Thornton. In a bit of a Spice Girls/Victoria Beckham thing, she won’t be joining the rest of the Dolls on the tour.

THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS have now rescheduled their dates. They get to the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on Friday 21st May 2021. You can get tickets from the box office on 02920-224488 or right here. DOLLS Original tickets are still valid and we can tell you there is low availability on the remaining ones. so you’ll need to be quick. There are some VIP deals left, along with a meet and greet package. For details of those, go here. VIP

Unfortunately, because of the current situation, the gig at Parc Y Scarlets in Llanelli this month was cancelled and as yet we can’t see any rescheduling of that one.
