There’s always much excitement when something new comes out of the world of WALLACE AND GROMIT, but when that something means we can actually dive into their world, you just know it’s going to be something very special.
South Wales has been chosen as one of the locations for “Wallace & Gromit: Fix Up Your City,” featuring all-new animation, which will make us all part of their latest business venture: Spick & Spanners.
Wallace & Gromit have landed the contract of a lifetime, they are going to “fix up” the city of Cardiff. We get to join the company by downloading a free app and playing along as a Spick & Spanners employee to help the duo.
Fix Up Your City is part of another project the pair are involved in (busy time for W&G) they are already part of THE BIG FIX UP, which you can download to one of your mobile devices.
As you can see in the clip, work is piling up, so the duo embark on a recruitment drive in their “Spick & Span mobile. This where you and I come in as their latest recruits.
Business tycoon Bernard Grubb has commissioned the famous duo to spruce up the city in time for his festival. There’s absolutely heaps to do and all manner of contraptions to discover – including the colossal cleaning robot, ‘Big LAD’.
But help is at hand from BERYL, a fussy yet friendly Artificial Intelligence – perhaps she can help find Gromit, who appears to have gone walkies…
As for FIX UP YOUR CITY, that is also out now and is actually the first augmented-reality adventure for the pair, which will play out in a variety of media formats.In the new story, inventor Wallace and his faithful dog Gromit’s new business venture, Spick & Spanners, takes on a contract to “Fix-Up” the city.
It’s so easy to use, and really good fun. You just put the app onto your phone, head out into the city, fire it up, and away you go.
We have it on very good authority that Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park was involved from the start of the project and was “fundamental in getting Wallace & Gromit to feel comfortable in their new adventure.”
It’s hard to believe that Wallace & Gromit have been on our screens for nigh on 33 year. In 1989 the Oscar-nominated animated short A Grand Day Out, was followed by several more shorts, including A Close Shave and The Wrong Trousers, both of which won Oscars, as well as TV series and the Academy Award-winning animated feature Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
