It was the perfect storm which led to a perfect game for WALES WOMEN as they open their TikTok Six Nations 2023 campaign against Ireland at a passionate Cardiff Arms Park.
The senior team set a new record as Ioan Cunningham’s side rattled off try-after-try in front of a new record home crowd of 4,962 fans.
Skipper Hannah Jones led from the front contributing a try of her own in the 31-5 win, with prop Sisilia Tuipulotu taking the player of the match title for her performance.
The Final Score, in what was an entertaining game from start to finish: WALES 31 V IRELAND 5.
It was a welcome home for Royal New Zealand Navy officer KATE WILLIAMS as she made her Wales debut in the Six Nations opener. Swansea-born Kate moved back to Wales after the World Cup and found herself on the pitch with her Dad making the trip from New Zealand to support her along the way.
What was so great about the day, apart from a terrific game of rugby and superb atmosphere, is that it really brought families together in Cardiff Arms Park to enjoy plenty of pre-match entertainment. We were the to meet the supporters, the WRU team who helped put this fantastic day together, and of course speak to Kate after Wales’ victory.
Wales Women return to Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday 15th April to face current Women’s Six Nations champions, England.
