Leading partnerships developer Lovell has visited Archbishop Rowan Williams Church in Wales Primary School in Portskewett, to provide its pupils in years two to six with an educational talk on housebuilding.
Archbishop Rowan Williams Primary School is located near Elderwood Parc, a brand-new development in Portskewett situated on Crick Road. The development will consist of 269 new homes and a 32-bedroom care home, being built as a design and build scheme for Melin Homes, Candleston and Monmouthshire County Council.
Assistant Site Manager at Elderwood Parc, David Jones, and Community Development Coordinator at Lovell, Meriel Gough, were invited to visit the school and discuss the process of planning and delivering a new development.
The event started with presentations and discussions conducted by David, where pupils were able to ask questions and learn more about the Elderwood Parc development. Following David’s presentations, the children were shown a range of building materials that are used on site and taught about how they all worked together.
Catherine Stephens, Year Two/Three teacher at Archbishop Rowan Williams Primary School told us……
“The children had a wonderful afternoon with Lovell and really enjoyed learning about how homes are built. The pupils all found the presentation interesting and inspiring, and loved getting to wear their own hard hats. Thank you very much to Lovell for their visit.”
Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said……
“As Elderwood Parc is just over a quarter of a mile away from Archbishop Rowan Williams Church in Wales Primary School, it was great to be able to teach the children about how we’re building the homes. It was fantastic to hear that the pupils were so engaged and asked some brilliant questions.
Giving back to the local community is a key part of our ethos at Lovell, and we look forward to future opportunities where we can support those in and around Portskewett.”
