After a fantastic year, which included a headline slot at Radio 2’s Party in the Park, MANIC STREET PREACHERS are heading to Swansea Arena for not one, but two huge shows in May 2025!
Supporting their upcoming fifteenth studio album, Critical Thinking, due to be released on 31st January, the Manics will head out on a UK tour starting in April ending with two shows right here at Swansea Arena on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th May.
Famous for fan favourites such as A Design for Live, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, and You Stole the Sun from My Heart, James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore are sure to give their Welsh fans an incredible evening to remember.
Formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly, Manic Street Preachers burst onto the music scene in 1986, with their punk & alternative rock sound and androgynous glam imagery gaining the band a loyal following which has now spanned nearly four decades.
Talking about the new album, Nicky said….
“This is a record of opposites colliding – of dialectics trying to find a path of resolution. While the music has an effervescence and an elegiac uplift, most of the words deal with the cold analysis of the self, the exception being the three lyrics by James (Dean Bradfield) which look for and hopefully find answers in people, their memories, language and beliefs.
The music is energised and at times euphoric. Recording could sometimes be sporadic and
isolated, at other times we played live in a band setting, again the opposites making sense with each other. There are crises at the heart of these songs. They are microcosms of skepticism and suspicion, the drive to the internal seems inevitable – start with yourself, maybe the rest will follow.”
Speaking to Mojo Magazine, James Dean Bradfield said…..
“Sometimes just to have your best songs is enough, just putting a record out and not trying to describe a big overarching concept, even though there is a thread there.”
The Manics are one of the most influential and iconic rock bands to have come out of Wales. They have gone on to release 14 (15 coming) studio albums and have headlined countless festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival and Reading & Leeds. They have won eleven NME Awards, eight Q Awards and four BRIT Awards and were also nominated for the Mercury Prize and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Their 15th studio album, the follow up to ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ which entered the UK charts at No. 1 on its release in September 2021 will no doubt head the same way, right to the top of the album charts.
MANIC STREET PREACHERS get to Swansea Arena next year on the 9th and 10th May. Tickets on GENERAL SALE on Friday 1st November at 9:30am. Details HERE.
