Throughout this past year takeaway services have played a huge role with their non-stop deliveries, collections and options to choose from.

Our local takeaways are the heartbeat of our high streets. From incredible Indians to perfect pizzerias, every town has their heroes and every individual has their favourite. Here in South Wales you can walk down any High Street and pretty much find a dish from all corners of the globe.

THE BRITISH TAKEAWAY AWARDS is now in its sixth year and is all about rewarding the dedication of local takeaways across a multitude of cuisines, recognising their contribution to our economy on a truly national scale.

This year there are……….

  • 12 Regional Awards

Winners receive: £1,000 cash, £200 per site to spend at Just Eat shop & an exclusive British Takeaway Awards trophy.

Judges Awards

  • Best Takeaway Chef in Britain 
  • Good Deed Hero

Winners receive: £1,000 cash, £200 per site to spend at Just Eat shop & an exclusive British Takeaway Awards trophy.

  • Best Takeaway in Britain – chosen from the 12 regional winners

Winner receives: £5,000 cash, an exclusive British Takeaway Awards trophy & a media support package from Just Eat.

  • Best Restaurant Chain in Britain 

Winners receive: £5,000 cash, £200 per site to spend at Just Eat shop & an exclusive British Takeaway Awards trophy.

Last year, the Best Takeaway in Britain was NACHO CHEESE in Trowbridge. They impressed the judging panel with a combination of great food, high mystery shopper score and measures it had taken to cater to customers’ dietary needs.

Owner Lorraine Priestly has Coeliac disease and has led the way in offering gluten-free menu items, she’s also involved in projects working with Coeliac UK to help ensure other restaurants can improve their gluten-free offering. In addition, Nacho Cheese offers vegan, vegetarian and dairy-free dishes, and the packaging used is compostable and biodegradable.“

Incredibly the industry is worth over £12.5 billion to the UK economy, and perhaps even more after 12 months of lockdown. Takeaways have been an integral part of our culture for decades – it’s time to recognise their contribution.
