The Scottish hard rock heroes GUN are back with their first album of all-new material in over seven years will be previewing it with an intimate gig in Crumlin’s Patriot on 29th March. The band have toured the globe with the likes of  The Rolling Stones to The Cult to Bon Jovi, notched up 8 Top 40 singles and are aiming for their fourth Top 20 album with upcoming record ‘Hombres’.

The news follows the release of their brand new single “Boys Don’t Cry“, out now. A testimony to the glory of hard, loud rock, the single is taken from the Scottish squad’s forthcoming new album, ‘Hombres, set for release on 12th April 2024 via Cooking Vinyl. Declared “some of their best songs since Gallus!” by Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris, it’s the first album of all new music from the group since 2017’s ‘Favourite Pleasures, which entered the UK official album chart at number16.

The question is, why so long? We asked the bands lead vocalist and songwriter DANTE GIZZI to tell us more and as you’ll see in the interview, we chatted about everything from his time during lockdown, the excitement of taking the new material on the road, in these smaller venues, to the care he has to take with his powerful voice.

On a personal note, and many fans will tell you the same, Dante is one of the nicest guys you’ll speak to…..

DANTE GIZZI – GUN

The thirteen tracks on ‘Hombres’ were recorded and produced by Simon Bloor (Trevor Horn) with mixing by Daryl Thorpe (Foo Fighters) at Morsecode Studios and Strongroom Studio. The record boasts guest vocals from Beverley Skeete (Elton John, Chaka Khan, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash), Mary Pearce (Primal Scream, Lionel Ritchie, Chaka Khan) and Sarah-Jane Skeete (Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Bill Wyman) of The Sisterhood on several tracks, as well as a guest performance on the drums from Joe Lazerus of Twin Atlantic.

Talking about the lead single Dante said……..

“Boys Don’t Cry is a song about those people who are steeped in a delusion of superiority; they strut through life expecting the world to shower them with favours, oblivious to the reality that humility and genuine effort pave the path to true accomplishment.”

The track is available on all streaming platforms HERE.now. You can also watch the official lyric video HERE.

The album is available in multiple formats as both standard and deluxe editions, including on CD, vinyl, and digitally. Pre-order now here.  For an exclusive, limited Blood Records vinyl variant HERE.

Dante said……

“Gun have been around for a long time. We’ve done a lot. We’ve released a lot of music. But in some ways it feels like we’re just getting started. We’ve already started writing songs for the next record. We don’t ever want to leave it so long again. This is what we do. We need this band. The pandemic taught us that.”

Guitarist Giuliano “Jools” Gizzi added……

“I think this record did save us, but now I just want to get out there and play the songs to the fans. Not to waste any more time. People need music. They need to dance and have fun. We’ve all suffered too much. Let the good times roll!”

GUN get to The Patriot in Crumlin on Friday 29th March. You can get tickets, and more HERE.
