Marisha Wallace Playing Two Welsh Dates

This years Strictly gave us many things, including a win for BILL BAILEY, but for us, top of the list, was the performance from musical powerhouse MARISHA WALLACE.

Marisha has been all over everything recently (and rightly so), so we’re fairly certain you will have seen or heard her.

She was not only FAB-U-LOUS on Strictly, but turned out a show stopping performance on this years Royal Variety. The fantastic news is she is heading out on tour next year, and we get a double helping of this very special talent.

During our first lockdown Marisha set the country alight with a very special video of her version of Tomorrow from the musical Annie. It’s now been watched by tens of thousands (almost 20,000 to be exact) and it’s been shared all across the world.

So, first things first, here is that video…….

That song led to her current album TOMORROW which instantly became BBC Radio 2 Album of the Week, and was played everywhere, including our own radio station SOUTH WALES LIFE (download the App or ask Alexa or Google). The songs are uplifting show tunes and real sing-along pop classics. Treat yourself to it for Christmas and you’ll see what we mean. Just click on the image below.

Marisha has starred in pretty much all the great smash hit stage shows. She was in the original Broadway casts of Aladdin in 2014 and then and Something Rotten! the following year. From there it really was non-stop for this North Carolina girl. In 2017 she became an alternate Effie White in the West End production of Dreamgirls. When Amber Riley left the show. it was a given that Marisha would take over the role.

Actually, in that year she release a Christmas album she released a Christmas album herself. Soul Holiday was initially available for digital download, but you can now also get the CD, just click on the link below.

Last year she joined the original London cast of Waitress as Becky. And in April next year (if we can finally get this damn pandemic in check) she will star in the London Coliseum production of Hairspray as Motormouth Maybelle opposite Michael Ball.

It’s been a tough year for theatre and our performers, Marisha said recently…..

“The thing I have absolutely missed the most in 2020 is performing in front of a live audience. My first ever UK tour was halted due to the pandemic earlier this year so it will be wonderful to get back into theatres in 2021 and do what I love the most.”

“The response to my new album has been incredible. All the songs on the album have a really personal and special meaning for me, I loved recording them, and I cannot wait to sing these wonderful songs for audiences across the UK.”

I can remember being at the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall a while back, and someone who knows, and extremely influential in the theatre world, whispered in my ear, as he pointed to Marisha, who was wearing a knockout green dress – ‘She’s The One To Watch.’ And you know what? I haven’t stopped watching since.

Don’t miss this this chance to see Marisha Wallace, she really is truly phenomenal.

Marisha gets to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Thursday 30th September 2021, tickets are £30.80 each, but we would highly recommend you treat yourself to an upgrade for the ‘Meet & Greet’ at only £44.80 each, you won’t regret it. For more information and to get your tickets, go here ABERYSTWYTH

Then on Friday 1st October she’ll be playing the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Tickets are between £19.80 and £27.50, but once again you can get the ‘Meet & Greet’ for £44.80. For details and tickets, go here CARDIFF

Incidentally, Marisha is the singing voice of Ms. Johnston in Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey on Netflix, so grab the family, cuddle up under a blanket, and enjoy the movie this Christmas.
