It’s fair to say that here in South Wales we have a certain affinity with Elvis Presley. Let’s face it, we are home to the biggest Elvis Festival in Europe, which incidentally returns this September to its spiritual home of Porthcawl – ELVIS FESTIVAL.

Now, we also get to relive the magic of the great man in the record breaking, much loved, and highly recommended WORLD FAMOUS ELVIS SHOW which gets to St David’s hall in Cardiff on the 26th of this month.

Starring and produced by world renowned Elvis performer CHRIS CONNOR. With his 12 piece live band ‘THE STEELS‘, & backing vocals by ‘ The Sweet Harmonies’, this isn’t more than just the brilliant music, it’s a full-on, magnificent theatre production, recreating 2 popular Elvis Presley concerts.

We put a call in to Chris (Elvis) to chat about life on the road, the show and how he gets ready for a performance. First we wanted to know how the Elvis Show came to him and why he wanted to be The King on stage?

CHRIS CONNOR TALKS TO US ABOUT THE WORLD FAMOUS ELVIS SHOW

This show respectively and authentically recreates ELVIS at his very best recreating 2 concerts, you will simply feel that you have been transported back in to time.

If you weren’t one of those lucky enough to see Elvis live, and he certainly never played concerts here, you will walk away from this show feeling that you have! many Elvis  fans are left emotionally moved when they leave the show.

There is only one Elvis Presley, however fans all around the world are talking about CHRIS CONNOR who is remarkably so very close to Elvis in both looks, voice and mannerisms.

Chris has been doing this for a while now, in fact since 2009. Within 12 months of starting down the Elvis path, Chris was playing venues such as the Manchester Apollo and Harrogate International Centre.

After that amazing first year and having been crowned European Champion at the Images of the King contest, Chris said…….

“It’s fantastic. I didn’t realise I’d get so far so quickly.

I’m so made up, especially at the chance to visit Graceland. So far 2009 has been the best year of my career.

It’s great to be recognised with such a prestigious award and to have the chance of performing with Elvis’s band members is just a dream come true.”

Of course it hasn’t all been easy, and like most performers Chris was away from the stage for way too long during lockdown. When he eventually came back on stage last year, with social distancing measures still in place, the first two shows at Rossendale, sold out immediately.

Chris Connor’s manager is Lisa Matthews, she told us…….

“Chris has built a huge following all around the world.  He is shy and very humble off stage, however on stage he transforms into Elvis, it can be at times very spooky. Chris makes sure that his tribute is respectful at all times, and as authentic as possible.

Audience members are left in tears and in shock during and after the shows, with the very close likeness in looks, voice, mannerisms and moves. Chris has worked very hard to become the world leading Elvis Performer, and he is very  grateful for the continued support he receives from all fans across the globe.

This show is made by Elvis fans for Elvis fans. You seriously do not want to miss this electric show!”.

Chris was endorsed by The Telegraph – ‘The best Elvis tribute show in the World’. And voted by the first ever worldwide Elvis Presley fan poll as – ‘The greatest Elvis Tribute in the World !’ – awarded in Memphis no less.
